Internet Speed Test

Featured Replies

I just signed up for a new isp(3BB) and cannot test connectivity latency/speed to UK or US.

Every attempt tried so far with various websites/destinations only gives ping results of 25-50 ms

and the advertised connectivity speed.

Does anyone know how to bypass this server and measure actual latency/speed to US and UK?

Try the speed test right here on the home page of thai visa

My True cable 20Mb plan also gives bogus, faster-than-the-speed-of-light results to speedtest.net servers all over planet Earth since the results are being skewed by hidden in-Thailand True proxy servers. I'm in Bangkok and can pretty much get 20Mb download speeds and 10-15ms speedtest.net latency/ping times to worldwide servers--bogus of course. But I can get real word results by using the True visible proxy settings (only for True customers). If 3BB has any proxy server settings you might want to give that a try. Otherwise, you can try other speed tester programs which may give you the real world latency results you are looking for in the 200ms plus ballpark. On True I get ping times of 200-225ms to the U.S. west coast; European sites are usually higher. Same when I was on a TOT 6Mb ADSL and JINET 2Mb ADSL plans, although I never had the bogus results problem...guess TOT/JINET don't use hidden servers to skew the results of many speed testers.

Speedtest.net works best for me in USA and pick a server close to you.

Problem with speedtest.net is it's easily fooled by hidden proxy servers....can give bogus results...if your ping times are bogus then your download speeds are probably bogus also. It's OK for checking your basic/local speed, but can easily give bogus results to servers outside you local area...but a lot also depends on your ISP's network setup (i.e., does it use hidden proxy servers).

Try dslreports and use the java speed test. You can also use the McAfee US speedtest to get file download speed.

This has been covered so many times.

there's only one speed test site that gives you correct results and lets you test different servers for comparison:

http://www.speedguide.net/speedtest/

all others i have tried are manipulated by 3bb!
