Excellent!

Working at loosing weight at the moment, sofar 10k, 20 to go.

I am 47, and those 10k took me about 3 months.

Little more exercise and for me more important change in diet.

Biggest change no more diet soda's, changed that to water and fresh coconut and an occasional oishi green ice tea.

jaideecm,

Well done. Congratulations and keep it up. I bet you feel better and many things are easier to do.

Any specific ways you changed your diet? Just curious. Did you drink beer before? Cut back on beer, if you did?

Just asking because I am now losing weight, but at a slower pace, but I am staying consistent. I am still 40 lbs (about 20 kilos) over weight.

Way to go, now you have to really keep an eye on the weight coming back. I am losing about same amount of weight too, but sadly it is the thrid time in 20 years I have needed to do so. Each time is harder. This time I am going to set a wieght which I must never exceed (80kg), and if I do I must immediatley start weight reduction and lose 3 kg.

Mmmm, what was it 125(ish) down to 85,to be honest you look a bit gaunt, could do with putting a bit on,(just my opinion). Is good to get it off though, but was one hell of a drop in a short space of time. It is easy though to get shut, just stop eating, surprising how quickly the thought of eating vanishes, just do not feel hungry and no need to comfort eat, just do not feel like it.

First couple of weeks are the hardest but I did use something illegal which made it easier, after about week 3 the weight came off sometimes almost 2 kg a day. Christmas and birthdays are hard tho, everyone gorging,me just nibbling

Great results you look a lot younger this way.

I respect people who manage this kind of change. Being fat really makes people look old.

Good job! You look all the better for it. I had my weight down to 67kg but bounced back up to 80kg in two months of inactivity. It feels much tougher to get my weight down again this time, but I will do it. Don't make the same mistake I did and allow yourself to fall back into bad habits. It feels worse when you pile back on the pounds becaue you have already tasted success.

I changed everything in my diet and when I eat. Do not drink anything carbonated now.

Wake up and drink a full glass of water. I then have a slice of whole wheat toast (I make the bread myself) with Canole margarine and 1 cup of real coffee. I wait 2 hours then have a small bowl of oatmeal or granola with 0% fat milk with ground flax seed. I snack with walnuts, almonds and raisins. I then go to work out every other day. I start with 20 minutes on the tread then an hour upper and lower body weight training. I then do another 20 minutes on the treadmill then stretching. I ride my bike for 1 hour every morning the days I don't go to the gym.

After my workout I eat Thai food such as Cow Mun Guy (boiled chicken with rice) or salad with olive oil and vineger. When I don't go to the gym I eat canned sardines in tomatoe sauce or turkey breast and sweet potatoes, deer meat steak with salad or roasted tomatoes stuffed with tuna and herbs. I stop eating 4 hours before bedtime. I also drink a mixture of fruit and vegetable juice 3 time a day (I have my own juicer).

I also make my own

I eat nothing white except chicken and turkey breast. For rice I eat a combination of red and brow rice. Sure I have white rice when I eat at the mall as that is all they have. Eat nothing fried. I roast instead of frying in my toaster oven. If I have an craving for french fries (chips) I use sweet potatoes and blanch them in water for 8 minutes, let them dry for 4 hours in the fridge then fry in peanut oil at 185 C. This way they do not absorbe the fat.

For losing weight work out in the mornings, to gain muscle mass work out in the evening. Count those calories as you only lose weight when you burn more than you take in.

If you have any questions about nutrition and weight loss please ask via message and I will email you my fitness and weightloss guide I researched myself, works great.

Cheers,

Randy

Randy,

Your doing it 100% right, it does take an effort though. I work out similar to you maybe a bit less on the cardio. Also my food is similar to your (no vegetable juice or sardines)

This is just the way it should work many people just dont want to put the effort in.

jdcm,

Thanks for your response and details in post #10.

A good system, as it works.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted. I appreciate your info and before and after pic.

The system he describes really works, you just have to count your calories and get them from the right foods. The amounts that you have to eat are vary from person to person. So it takes some tweaking.

But the guy really made some radical choices and put a lot of effort in it so that was what made it work.

If you put the effort in you can do it many just want an easy awnser.

Asian girls often prefer men with more "meat".

The skinny photo is when I lost weight after 8 months of mostly cardio before I started real weight training. Here are new photos of me 5 kilo's heavier but with muscle not fat.

Congratulations but that diet seems a real pain. I suppose though that I am lucky in that I can eat what I want, but I have always been an eat to live rather than a live to eat person. The furthest I have ever been overwieight is about 8kgs, but that is now a thing of the past. I now manage to maintian my weight by eating what I want in sensible amounts. Two meals a day and 30 minutes on an exercise bike 5 days a week. I really do need to do some weight work, but I don't have the time with work.

Oh by the way, you look not only slimmer but also fitter. Being slim doesn't always mean being fit.

Thank you for your kind words.

It might seem like a pain but once you see and feel the results you will never go back to the old fatty self for sure.

Yea I do have a slice of pizza or 2 every month, dark chocolate in small amounts weekly, a hamburger once a month etc. I do like my comfort food at times but I know I have to work out more the next day, no worries.

I am 63 years young, don't need Viagra, blood pressure or cholestrol medicine. My doctor says I have a body of a 40 year old as I go for tests every year.

Here is information I found on the internet and then adjusted it to my lifestyle but the facts about weight loss and health are important and true.

I hope this will help you get started to a healthier you.

They love the meat but not fat. I go to pubs once or twice a month, dress smart and feeling good. I look around the room and everyone 40 or older is super fat. The ladies give me a shoulder and back massage for free as they love to feel my firm body. I love looking and feeling better than than the others. I have been offered free services but this is not why I go to pubs and respectfully decline. I cannot s--t in my own back yard living in Chiang Mai for more than 20 years. Another reason to work out and watch my diet.

I Love being fit,

Randy

I'm sorry to disagree, but many do. Note that I didn't say all. My wife couldn't care less if I have a big belly or not. I know some girls who want their boyfriends to get fat because they really like it. My wife's mother loves being fat and she is proud of it. Usually skinny is a sign of poverty in Asia. They really don't like skinny.

I showed my wife your before and after photos and she thinks you look better fat - and in particular the face.

Just saying - people's tastes do differ.

I personally like to be lean - but I do it for me, not my wife.

My experience was that the girls liked the fat guys because it was harder for them to get other girls. I have talked with enough girls to know they like slim more. But maybe they are in a different generation. Anyway i am also working out for myself not for anyone else.

I met some girls that loved muscle and some that did not. Just like some guys like the girls super skinny and others like them with a bit more meat and breasts.

A word to the wise, Cow Mun Guy is chicken with rice, but the rice is full of chicken fat "Mun") and canned sardines are usually deep fried. You are on a strict diet, so these things probably don't matter much, but IMO worth knowing about.

Im rather startled at some of the comments, which seem very harsh, so would like to comment from a female point of view (albeit not a Thai female). First of all, well done on looking after yourself. Its great to read someone who has thought about the whole picture (diet AND exercise, and long term maintenance), and i wish you the very best of health, fitness, and happiness. I also admire putting yourself up here to be commented on and questioned.

My comment is meant to be taken constructively, and of course you (and others ) may not agree. Just i think you are looking much better and healthier physically now, so this is what i personally think would look good. When dying your hair, dont make it too dark..it seems to be a comment mistake men make which i think isnt as flattering as a lighter shade or even allowing some grey to remain. Maybe consider treating yourself to a professional consultation? There are a few hairdressers in the ladies forum that are recommended. A gentle shade of brown, or variation of shades in your hair would "lift" your look, and be softer and more flattering. I also think wearing lighter shades of clothing would be softer and more flattering on you also. Lighter tshirts or casual fitted shirts. I think black tshirts can sometimes make people look austere (depending of course on skin tone etc).

Anyway, i just mention those things as i admire the effort you have put in, and think you would look even better with some subtle adjustments. Just my humble opinion thought.

As for Thai women, i cant speak for the majority, but i have honestly never heard a thai woman say she prefers a fat mans body over a fit one (regarding desirability..of course maybe they prefer it as they think he would be less likely to stray notion..but a man happy in his relationship and decent, whatever shape he is in, can usually face and resist temptation. A fat man can still stray! Maybe even more-so, as he desires the ego boost. ? ...but whatever..). This is going by private girl talk..just purely on physical appeal (however women desire more than just a fit body on a man).

Saying you have the look of a man who has AIDS ...that just floored me.. !!! Naturally people will usually lose weight of their face as they lose weight. Keep up the proteins (as you are doing, but, as you must know, dont let that drop :) ) and lighten up your look (imo), and enjoy your healthy life. WELL DONE!!

You are right Eek, this is just something that is said to the fat guys to make them feel better.

The AIDS comment floored me too.. i mean people near him would have seen his different diet and exercising and hear him talking about it.

Sounds more like a guy justifying himself not working out and his wife supporting him.

I think this is a great accomplishment and i know how much work it costs to get into shape.

Totally agree with the comments expressing doubt that Thai women really prefer fat men.

Besides, the OP doesn't look skinny in the slightest. He looks to be of medium build, and fit.

Also wanted to point out that fat and fatty foods, whether the source is vegetable or animal fat - don;t make you any fatter than other foods of similar calorie count. Weight gain comes from calories and doesn't matter what the source is, i.e., whether high-fat or low-fat. Many foods touted as 'low-fat' or 'zero-fat' are actually quite high in calories via carbs. Carbs convert to glucose -- sugar -- once they are digested and are hence more likely to cause obesity (when over-indulged in, at least) than any other food group. No carbohydrate is an essential nutrient in humans. There are "essential" fatty acids and "essential" amino acids (from protein), however there are no known essential carbohydrates.
