Crime Immigration Files Legal Complaint Against Chinese National for Filming Airport Officials

Immigration authorities have taken legal action against a Chinese national who secretly filmed officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport, allegedly to produce misleading social media content suggesting money could be used to bypass immigration procedures. The video, which has gone viral on Chinese social media platforms, features a man documenting his entry into Thailand. In the clip, he narrates in Chinese, claiming to show “how to enter Thailand” while commenting that immigration procedures were “now stricter.” Footage includes images of Immigration officers, baggage claim areas and scenes outside the airport. At one point, the man implies that “with some money, the staff will help you get through,” and that in Thailand, such services are common, despite a “minor language barrier.” Text was also superimposed in Thai stating: “To work in Thailand without a visa, one must have connections with the Immigration Bureau.” Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimphadee, Commander of Immigration Division 2, confirmed on 9 June, that action has been taken. He said Pol Lt Col Eknarin Chanthamattharapaskul, Deputy Inspector of the Immigration Entry Division at Suvarnabhumi Airport, had been identified in the clip. Lt Col Eknarin reported that he had merely assisted a Chinese tourist who claimed to be unable to complete the online arrival form (TDAC) due to language difficulties. After helping with the form, the tourist asked to be expedited due to time constraints, and the officer passed the passport for standard screening before returning to his duties. Unbeknownst to him, the tourist was filming covertly from behind and later edited the footage, overlaying misleading narration. Immigration authorities say this caused reputational harm and misrepresented Thailand’s immigration procedures. Pol Maj Gen Choengron stated that the department has recently become more stringent in screening visa-free arrivals, especially from countries where there have been patterns of misuse. From January to May 2025, over 8,000 foreign nationals were refused entry, with a noticeable number of Chinese nationals using social media “challenges” or paid content to claim improper access to Thai immigration services. Authorities view the incident as part of a wider trend of foreign influencers or agents seeking to promote illegal entry or business facilitation through misrepresented ties with immigration officials. On 9 June, Lt Col Eknarin filed a formal complaint at Suvarnabhumi Police Station against the Chinese man, citing defamation through advertising. Accident Municipal Garbage Truck Reverses Over Motorcyclist, Killing One and Injuring Another
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 62-year-old woman was killed and another seriously injured in an incident involving a reversing municipal garbage truck in Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi. The incident occurred on the morning of 9 June in Soi Chumchon Wat Sai, Bang Si Thong Subdistrict. Local police from Bang Kruai Station, along with forensic doctors and Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescue workers, were called to the scene following reports of a fatal collision between a refuse truck and a motorcycle. The scene was a narrow two-lane road where a municipal garbage lorry had reversed over a white-and-blue Honda Wave motorcycle. The rider, identified as Mrs Wannapha, aged 62, was found dead at the rear of the truck, her head having been fatally crushed by the vehicle’s rear wheels. The pillion passenger, 68-year-old Mrs Malee, sustained head injuries with visible swelling and was rushed to Bang Kruai Hospital for treatment. Eyewitness Ms Waranuch Sroi-in, 54, told reporters she had been riding her motorbike behind the victim’s vehicle and had stopped nearby. She stated that the garbage truck had activate reversing lights and the deceased, who was reportedly unwell, appeared to be attempting to reverse her motorcycle out of the way but was unable to move in time. She added that the motorbike was likely in the driver’s blind spot, making it difficult for the truck operator to see the victims. Local residents rushed to assist, managing to pull the injured passenger to safety after the truck lifted its rear section, romallow access. Unfortunately, Mrs Wannapha had already succumbed to her injuries. The deceased’s daughter, 35-year-old Ms Chotika, said she had not witnessed the accident but was informed by phone that her mother had been killed. Her mother had left the house that morning to collect a relative. “She probably thought the truck was going forward, not reversing,” said Ms Chotika. “It must have happened too fast for her to react. Just yesterday I bought noodles for her and we chatted as usual. I never imagined today would end like this.” The garbage truck driver declined to speak to the media, stating that he would provide a statement only to police. Officers are currently examining evidence at the scene and will review nearby CCTV footage in order to determine the exact cause of the incident. An investigation is ongoing. Crime Fugitive Woman Arrested After 10 Years on the Run in Notorious Ponzi Scheme
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 60-year-old woman wanted in connection with the infamous UFUN Ponzi scheme has been arrested after more than a decade on the run. Ms Sasinkarn was apprehended by officers from The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) in Bang Na, Bangkok. Ms Sasinkarn was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court in June 2015 on charges of “fraudulent public borrowing” and “participation in a transnational criminal organisation”. Authorities allege she played a significant role in luring victims to invest in UFUN, a company that operated under the guise of a direct sales and health product business but was, in reality, a classic pyramid scheme. The UFUN scheme, which operated between 2013 and 2015, promised unusually high returns to investors and encouraged members to recruit new participants to earn commissions. Ms Sasinkarn was reportedly a prominent figure in the operation, delivering persuasive presentations and personally receiving over 19 million baht from investors. She is also believed to have transferred at least 5.2 million baht to affiliated companies. Following the initial investigation, authorities discovered that Ms Sasinkarn had gone into hiding and later became a white-robed lay nun at a religious centre in Chachoengsao province. Although she evaded arrest once during a police raid, officers continued investigate her movements. Eventually, she was apprehended by authorities and was taken into custody for formal prosecution. During interrogation, Ms Sasinkarn denied all charges and declined to provide testimony to the police, opting instead to contest the allegations in court. The UFUN case is considered one of the largest Ponzi schemes in Thai history, with over 2,400 victims and total losses exceeding 356 million baht. The judicial process has already seen 32 individuals sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Supreme Court, following revisions made by the Appeal Court. Seven ringleaders were initially sentenced to 50 years, while 15 others received 20-year terms. The Supreme Court upheld convictions for 32 defendants and ordered them to collectively repay the full amount to the victims. The arrest of Ms Sasinkarn marks a significant step forward in closing the chapter on a case that has haunted thousands of Thai citizens for over a decade.
