I believe HRH has endorsed "kau glong", my favorite is to mix half whole grain jasmin (red) with half kau nieaw dam, whole grain black sticky rice, add a bit of butter and cumin seeds while cooking, delicious. Brown rice is catching on with the health concious locals too.

I bought a small bag of brown rice and it was more expensive than Jasmine white rice. My wife thought that was a stupid purchase. She cooked one batch of it and I thought it tasted better than the Jasmine rice. The next time I wanted it, the bag was gone. I asked her where my brown rice went and she told me that brown rice is for chickens and she fed it to the chickens.

Your wife is like my dad... with a small twist.. he says all rice is for chickens. He wont touch it, was forced to eat it too much during his merchant marine days.

It's the same in Europe, my mother's huge family was having white bread only on Sundays, now you have to pay double price for a good, healthy brown bread..coffee1.gif
