My garden shears, both sets, would not cut through butter. We gave them to our maid's father, he "had a go" but they are no better at all than before we gave them to him

I'm getting blisters from using scissors so my question is does anyone know of anywhere that sharpens stuff like this...properly?

Cheers

Most are easy to disassemble and sharpen with a wet stone.

Indeed, but it should be done on a regular basis. I think the op needs an angle grinder.

Most of the local mc repair shops has one. Bring them there and they'll do it for a few Bhat, then you can 'fine-tune' them with a wet stone.

Don't ever use an angle grinder and only in extreme cases an fixed wheel grinder - they heat the metal too much and will destroy the temper of the metal . Instead place the shears in a bench vice and use a flat bastard file on the edge making sure you keep the same angle (ie: don't round off the top stroke ) and file in one direction and finish the job off with a wet stone if needs be although the file will do the job sufficiently. .
