X-Ray Result

Featured Replies

I just got my x-ray results back:

- inadequate inspiration and mild rotate position, as far seen......

- Borderline heart size

- Tortuous ascending aorta

- Prominent shadow at right hila, maybe vascular structure, interval follow up in next 3 months may benefit

- No gross pulmanary infiltration is noted

- Elevation of left hemidiaphragm is presented

Note I also have high cholesterol and triglycirine levels.

I still have to see the doctor about my result, but as the doctors here in the province tend to speak little English I hope someone can give me some information about what is wrong and what questions I should ask the doctor so I can prepare myself better.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is impossible to interpret something like this without the full clinical picture and full medical history. What are the symptoms, of how long duration, etc

Also usually at the very end of the report it will say "Impression: ...." and something there. (or might say "Conclusion"), what does that say?

The "inadequate inspiration" to a large extent invalidates the rest of the findings; especially heart size. This means quite simply that you did not breath in deeply enough when the X-ray was taken..

The X-ray will have to be repeated

I fell in 2008 and had pain on my left side. A picture of my lungs showed a small wound, but not a fracture. Sometimes this pain/discomfort comes back for a while,

Subsequent lung films every year show inadequate inflation of the left lung, which seemed to be inproving over the years. I also started swimming last year, with trying to increase the distance I can swim underwater. So I was surpised by this finding.

Blood pressure is OK.

This is just a radiologist report, and the report itself says to check again in 3 months. Seems best to wait before making any conclusions.

Communication with the nurses is always a bit difficult, so I had to redo a few chest films before.

Thank you both very much for your advise.
