United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he will visit Burma later this week to encourage  democratic reforms in the country. “I have accepted an invitation from President Thein Shein to visit Myanmar. I will depart at the end of this week,†he told reporters. He added that he welcomed the decisions by the US, EU and others to begin easing sanctions against Burma, but cautioned that the country’s “fresh start is still fragile.†He also said he hoped the government and the opposition National League for Democracy would be able to resolve a dispute over an oath for new MPs.
