Reasonable Price, Big Brand Suit?

Featured Replies

I'm on holiday in Bkk at the moment ant have some business meetings set up while I am here. I was stupid enough to leave my suits at home, thinking I could pick some up here at lower cost than in Europe.

Much to my surprise, Hugo Boss suits in Gaysorn and Central costs around 50k baht - the same suits that sell for euro400-500 in germany and 250-350 pound in London.

While I need to make a good impression and a good suit is necessary, I can't make myself pay more than twice as much for a suit here.

My thai wife's sister is sales manager at a large local clothes chain, but they do not have any suits in my size at all (i'm 194cm/6'4" and reasoably muscular).

Any good suggestions? I don't mind to pay 20-25k for a good suit, but not from an Indian tailor. Are there any large international brands that are not overpriced here, that I can look for?

Getting desperate soon.

Cheers

Not sure if they do bigger size suite but it is worth give it a try Central Chidlom. My hubby who is 6 ft 3" bought lots of Guess Jeans and Billabong stuff from there.

Hope this helps.

Why don't you go to a nice tailor and have them make you one, quick? I've gotten plenty of great looking suits that way.

I highly recommend Vashi's as a tailor

THe suits are going on sale at the moment; however for a nice brand name suit try Givenchy; they have 30% off at the moment on a 40,000 suit; that is gettnig pretty close to your price range.

Boss and Zegna get hit with some fairly high duties; however Zegna is the more cost effective of the two AFAIK.

Why don't you go to the local tailors - BKK is not famous for its cheap brands but rather for its cheap copies. Hence ask them for a quick copy of your favourite suit. They will copy the cut of the brand and you end up with a perfect suit which is even in you prefered colour or fabric...

There is even a good thread about tailors here in BKK http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55041 - give it a try. Nothing looks better than a tailormade suit because its TAILORMADE
