Pib Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 During the flood in late 2011 one of my two TOT phone lines/numbers didn't work for at least several weeks (maybe a month) due to flood waters in my moobaan....we checked both lines each time were would come back to the house for a few hours to check on flood damage...one line was always dead, but the other working fine...I guess the line that continued to work stayed about the water at the moobaan junction box point When we got back into our western Bangkok home in early Dec 11 the one phone line still didn't work...I expect the junction boxes in the moobaan were still water logged from being under water for around a month...we called this phone line problem into TOT and it got fixed in about two days. After the flood water went down and we started getting mail again which included utility bills such as our TOT bills we went into a nearby TOT Service Center at our Lotus in late Dec or early Jan (I think it was late Dec) and applied for a credit due to phone line outage...we applied for a month's worth for the one phone line. Only took a few minutes for the TOT customer service rep to fill out the one page credit form and make a copy of the Thai wife's Thai ID card to attached to it. For you folks with TOT lines you know your monthly bill is B107/month assuming you don't make any outbound calls. When we got our Jan and Feb bills no credit has been given and we checked with the service center again about the credit status and they said it just takes time "if approved." At that time, the Thai wife and I just forgot about...figured the credit would never come through...not worth expending any more time on it since it was only a B107 credit. But lo and behold when we got our two bills today for our two TOT phone lines each bill had a B107 credit on it....TOT had apparently given us credit not only for the one phone line which we applied for the credit but also gave us a B107 credit on both phone lines...that is, including the one phone line/separate phone number that continued to work throughout the flooding. Amazing Thailand...I actually got a credit from a semi-governmental Thai company--the TOT phone company!! But it did take 4 to 5 months for the credit to complete it processing/be given. I expect TOT may have had to get the Prime Minister to approve the credit. Regardless, thanks TOT.
Pib Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Just an update to above post: I also got the B107 credit again on both phone lines for my Jun 2012 bill...so I got two months worth of full credit on both lines. Just got the July bill and we are now back to normal billing...that is, B107/mo per line (includes VAT). But hey, I got two months free service from TOT. I hope this total B428 in credit don't break TOT.
