Andaman Club Hates Border Runners

Just letting you all know if you plan to do a border run there and want to pay for the pool, this month they decided to change their policy and only hotel guests are allowed to pay for it.

They've just lost one and hopefully they lose a lot more. First hotel in the world that dont want paying people to use their pool

Many hotels don't like outside guests using their pool, even against payment.

Sometimes it helps to ask nicely and politely.

Exactly. They don't have any problem with visa runners but prefer they do just that, visa run. I can fully understand why they wouldn't let visa runners use the facilities as if they were guests, makes perfect sense.

dumb replies. This hotel has always let people on visa run use their pools for 300baht(extremely overpriced).

The visa runners are most of their $. Hundreds per day. They use to let them use the pool for the one hour they are on the hotel's ground for 300baht

New policy means they hate their best customers.

I bet if I went there tomorrow I could get them to let me use the pool.

Did you walk through reception with a mankini on? laugh.png

Well, if you say nonsense like 'First hotel in the world that dont want paying people to use their pool', you may get replies you don't like. That does not mean the reply is dumb, this means much more the original statements were dumb.

Kind of sad how so many people on this forum fail at reading comprehensions. I stated that they use to let people use it and changed their policy. Not that i was denied, not that they never wanted people swimming there. Just an hostile change in policy.

Didn't think i needed to state that a thai person asked. Seems like the girly bars are closed today to receive such replies? Lots of angry fellas.

Lots of angry fellas.

You are the angriest person on this board IMO. It is clear to see how you respond after the event as to how you probably deal with things before them. You seem to have an overwhelming "I want, I must get" attitude.

The hotel changed it's policy, so what? Lots of hotels have that policy. The Andaman Club used not to and now does. Again, so what? Has not being able to swim for that hour ruined your life?

I truly don't know how I have survived all these years without reading your posts. I feel so enlightened every time I read one...

Andaman Club Card Privileges ?

"Membership card is valid for a duration of one year and offers you extensive discounts and privileges, even beyond the Gaming Rooms. There are 3 card levels Platinum, Gold, and Classic"

Is the use of their facilities not included in this membership?

Anyone have one?

It could have been more gentile to type "Andaman Club Changes Its Policies".

He might even have typed something like "Could someone please tell me what type of visa I need so I don't have to do border runs?"

Must make you feel good to pay money for a visa. All proceed go to a government who hates your gut and who's biggest job is taking a nap every 2 hours.

I really can't understand why with that attitude they didn't want you in their pool. Be careful, your next thread may be "Andaman Club Hates Me and won't let me in their hotel" tongue.png

I love the joint....they have Australian Poker machines there... "Queen of the Nile" is my favourite. No limits on the betting, or doubling up...I always stay the night there anyways. 1500 baht for a room and a free breakfast and they give you like 300 baht back on the ferry ride....stop being such a cheapskate.....Go and have a bit of a punt...or as I like to refer to it as Junta Punting...Ive pulled more money out of that place than I have lost (cant say the same about my Aussie sports betting account though, or anywhere other casinos....Ive just had a good run on the punt at the Andaman Club)

Why spend so long getting up there not to stay the night and enjoy the facilaties? I can totaly understand that the andaman club doesnt want soap dodging backpackers who dont spend a satang in the casino swimming in their pool!

Thats absolute crap...the amount of money that is punted in that place is unbelievable...You ever been upstairs and seen the Thais and the Burmese cutting sick on the tables?? Probably not because you have to be a guest to go into the upstairs area....The Andaman club also have their own boat which gets used by private punters...and its not a small boat. A couple of hundred backpackers spending $10 (??) to get onto the island wont even cover the petrol for the bus rides up the hill. That place is worth millions and the visa runners dont prop it up...its the punters. Go on the weekend and see how many people are there....its as full as a public school hat rack

Dont get It , why would you use the Pool while dooing a visa Run ? Oh yes got it to sweathy in the minibus ? If you realy wand to get a swim in that area why not use the Hot water springs ?

I do agree that they can change there policy , at the end if I was a guest there I would not like a bunch of backpackers jumping every hrs in the pool , it is disturbing . You wand ***** star service pay for the lot .

Border runners don't have the right visa for a reason, it costs money to maintain one.

I have even seen guys coming over with booze in their bags to avoid buying some at the club.

I've had many a fun night gambling for 5 hours and couldn't lose money on the slots. Few quick doubles and back up. Chinese restaurant is great and duty free booze can be bought and drank at the slots or tables. No problems. Such cheap fun.

Maybe the border runners could go over to kawthaung where their budgets are catered to.

I can't understand why you would put yourself through the torture of bumping along on an all day excursion when you can fly Airasia to KL which leaves at 8 and returns at 1. 5 hours total vs an all day affair on sketchy roads. What's your time worth?

And to add to this thread...when i go to the Andaman club you notice all the visa runners there in shorts, flip flops and singlets (hairy underarms showing on both men and women). It is a different country it is a casino...and you are crossing a border. Try wearing having a wash first...put on some jeans, shoes and polo. Also I suspect the only reason they allow visa runners there is to appease the local immigtation which no doubt gets most of the cash from people entering and leaving Myanmar.

Im sure if a Burmese person was fortunate enough to enter a western

Country or casino, they wouldnt be dressed like soap dodgers
