It always bemuses me how fellow westerners go for the jugular when one of their countrymen is found to have done something reprehensible. So quick to condemn, and so lacking in empathy. Hang em high!! Why is that?

That's different. One is deserved damage and one isn't!

So lets see:

Undeserved damage : lady who makes a false rape claim.

deserved damage. Jetski scam,Tuk tuks asking rip off prices, tuk tuk drivers beating up tourists, several rapes ( confessed) in the past few months, murder of tourists ,GF who steals all boyfriends possessions......and the list is much longer.

Sure the false claim of the lady will damage Phukets reputation unrepairable.

Not to excuse this woman's actions and she deserves the punishment she has received but "DITTO" to HongKongPhooey's comments.

The tourist in question has admitted her guilt, therefore understandably feelings run high.

I have no empathy at all for this person, indeed I would go as far as to say if this was my daughter I would be making an example of her.

Can you imagine the next western rape that takes place in Phuket, the reception that she will meet?? Much work has gone on behind the scenes from the Thai Police, Consuls etc to try and establish "rape units" in Phuket, and she has done imo untold damage.

What she did is very bad and she definitely deserves time in jail for it.

However, I didn't see anywhere in the article that she accused any particular men, just that she was raped by "three men". So I think the "hang'em high" brigade who claim that she "could have destroyed these men's lives" and should get a bigger punishment are way off.

The comment about ruining the image of Phuket (okay, contributing to that) is actually much more accurate in this case.

Do you think other countries empty their asylums and send the to Thailand?

No I think that some tourists leave their brains at home! either that or they are arrogant enough to imagine that their country's laws follow them to their host country.

There are some people that just shouldnt have passports and cant be trusted outside of their own country.

Back on topic. The boyfriend is lucky her allegations were not levelled against him, and she stuck to the false story. He could have been in for a real tough time.

Also, another motive may have been to explain all the damage in the room, in an attempt to not have to pay for it.

As I read the story I speculate that the boyfriend likely smashed up the room because of the argument with his girlfriend. Most likely some jealous rage. She's stayed at the bar and came home at 3am. My guess / speculation is that he didn't like the attention his girlfriend was getting from another guy and she's made up the rape claim to avoid explaining what she been doing till 3am in the morning. All speculation but if I'm right and the boyfriend smashed up the hotel room because of a fight with her then they are both bogans and deserve each other. Certainly they haven't done Australia any favors by their behavior.

I have know Larry since he first arrived years and years ago with his dad.

They started Phuket.com and back then to get email we all had phuket.com email address and he would log in and retrieve emails twice a day!!!

They are very well established in Phuket an as far as i l know he is not paid

He is one of the good guys here

I know you mean well PR but you are a little confused.

The family you mentioned consist of Neil Cunningham his wife Linda and his son Stuart. Yes very nice people indeed but no connection,to my knowledge, with the present Aust Honorary Consul.

Would have better for all for her to have entered on her Brit passport or better still not entered at all. Feel sorry for good guys like Larry Cunningham, who have enough on their plate helping people with real problems, Instead of being obligated, by being a real Aussie, and helping Bogan scum such as this. No help to the the police involved who are trying to solve real crimes either

Accusing 3 men of rape is not a small deal. Should have been given 15 months and let the word spread back home.

You are quite correct Larry is an absolutely wonderful ambassador for Australia, works tirelessly and this must have caused him immense embarrassment.

I would have pressed for compo for the accused men also...

Hmmm, he lost face, let's hope he recovers....lol...I'm being ironic of course....the job is to assist where possible and i am sure he did that to his full capacity, bloody low blow coming from one of his own... sad.png

This is not I feel a low blow from one of his own, if I can read between the lines it is from a Brit pretending to be a real Aussie, makes it even worse. Pretending to be a real Bogan and doing an excellent job. Makes the bar mat blonde haired bimbo look like an amateur. Larry is built of solid stuff, I don't think it will get to him throwing in the towel, just commenting he doesn't need shit like this.

I have never ever met a Brit who would want to be a real Aussie, dont be so insulting ! laugh.png

The same applies to people that scam Insurance when abroad. One can be met with very cynical faces when requesting a police report for a genuine claim!

I have a very strong feeling that this young lady will be trying to turn the tables on reaching Australia and selling her " I was made to give a false confession" story to the press to alleviate some of the guilt.

By the way - I do object to the post saying that she was pretending to be an Australian - if she really WAS pretending, I am sure she would be charged with using a false passport - as she wasn't, I can only assume that she was legally using an Australian passport.

That was me also Australian by birth. It gets on my goat when I see the trash they're allowing to become " Australians". this was a natural reaction on my part. However I understand your objection. Unfortunately it was meant as a tongue in cheek way of expressing the possible fact that she was not born a native Australian but a British citizen using a legally issued Australian passport for whatever reason. Obviously she was not using a false passport, that would be a crime almost as bad as to which she has already confessed.

With respect I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding by you and other members of this forum.

'Native Australian' as in 'Aborigine' ?

The words I used " she was not born a native Australian" not " a native born in Australia." There is a difference to 'Aborigine' which refers to an indigenous Australian.

Don't wan't to get into a slinging match, there's enough around already but I think you know what was meant.

" she was not born a native Australian" It could also mean that she has British citizenship by ancestry never having set foot in the UK!

I hope she suffers the whole 15 long, hot days.

Australian women never fail to disappoint me.

Is she Australian or British? wasn't she travelling on a British passport? a brit living in Australia maybe.

How can this woman have a british passport if she is an aussie.

Seems that there is a typical aussie brit basher at work.

lungron.

I have both an Australian and a British passport..

My son has a Thai and Aussie Passport and the closest he has ever got to Australia is his vegemite on toast in the mornings.

Somebody help me with this, I can't find any mention in either the original PG report, or the subsequent story of her imprisonment where she has dual Australian/British nationality and passports. Only Australian is mentioned.

What difference would entering on a different passport make to this case? She has made a false allegation to the police - fullstop.

As an Australian and long time expat living here I find this quite embarrassing. Shapelle Corby and a long list of others. The shiela that knocked off the bar mat then abused all and sundry after getting caught, The over the top Media reaction and bias in Australia. Very sad.

It is pretty evident to me what has happened here, I don't think you have to be Sherlock Holmes.

I had a girlfriend like that once. Totally insecure and insanely jealous, An attention seeker extrordinaire, Would do, and did, anything, 'attempted bullshit suicides', the lot.

If you have a girlfriend like this I suggest Thailand, Phuket, Pattaya etc is not the place to take her for a holiday, A secluded Island for just two of you is a better choice. If you could put up with it.

She needs some professional help this girl.

As for the Thai blokes. What a nightmare for them. What can I say.

No one nation has a monopoly on dickheads, we all have them.

Well, it seems the media here has finally latched on, one way or another. Channel 9 in Sydney just ran the story on their nightly news. Stevie was named and shamed with photos, the lot. I've got to say, only some of the photos they posted were from her website. The others must have come from someone in Sydney. Still, everyone back home now knows about it.

Judge to bar girl accusing man had raped her;

Q; at what point did you realize you had been raped?

A; when he didn't pay me

15 days seems a very lenient sentence for such a serious false accusation against 3 Thai men.

Yes, she got off very easy.

Thailand must be one of the very few places a boyfriend or husband will actively engage in a domestic dispute on holiday in order for the wife or girl friend to storm off in a huff so they can enjoy some down time with the local entertainment. I suspect she noticed his interest in someone else and wanted them to go back to the room but he wanted nothing of it. A fight ensued which he did not back down from which resulted in her leaving. Maybe this dawned on her later leading to her creating this fabricated story to take revenge on her boyfriend for "letting this happen to her" by allowing her to leave unescorted back to their Hotel.

Whatever the reason, this guy needs to distance himself from this "nutter" as quickly as possible. Just goes to show it does not matter whether a girls is a pro or not they will go to extraordinary lengths to manipulate a man's feelings.

well at least if they deport her, she will be blacklisted for awhile. hopefully permanently. As for Australia, they should confiscate her passport and ban her from traveling for a period of 10 years. . . This is sad because now when some is really sexual assaulted, who can blame the police if they second guess the truthfulness.

As for getting raped in jail for those 15 days. . . BSzkX.jpg
