Looks like it's good until Sep. 30, 2012, but also says they reserve the right to cancel or modify.

T's & C's say "The Inter SIM sales promotion is for prepay TrueMove subscribers. Subscription period is from 1 April 2012 to 30 April 2012 or until TrueMove decides."

It should be 1.07 baht/min to the U.S. (Not sure if this includes calls to both fixed and mobiles?) via 00600, and 3.21 baht/min via 006.

What did TrueMove say when you contacted them?

Maybe you slipped some digit dialing?

why not just use SKYPE?

1) It costs more.

2) It requires a data connection.

Less than 1 Baht/minute.

Works with 3G or DSL

Much better quality than mobile calls

Skype has a fairly high connection charge for each call, which amounts to about 7 minutes added to the bill for each call.

I dont have any data package on my phone.

I do use SIP/VOIP on my Android mobile phone via wifi when at home, but these calls cost me nothing at all individually as I have a 60B/month package that covers them all. For me Skype would not be very good value when I'm on wifi, or usable at all when away from wifi.

I just double-checked and I did indeed use 00600... It was also over 2 separate phone calls to the same number... <20 total minutes drained 60 baht to zero.

I haven't checked rates yet via *600*, that phone isn't with me now, but thank you for the info...Will do that first chance I get.. Anyone else use Inter-Sim to the States over the last couple days?

re [why not use skype?], I've found inter-sim to be good quality with very few dropped calls...Don't need to sit on my PC with Inter-Sim either (yes, could set up Skype to work with Btooth, but this brings in a whole other set of issues)... There is a slight delay with True Inter-Sim, but it's entirely manageable.

No connection charge if you buy a monthly package. From 1US$ up. Dirt cheap and works very well. I use it for years.

That price is only valid for one country. The 60B VOIP package I have allows largely unlimited calls to many countries. The equivalent from Skype for me would be around 450B.

My package also gives me a DID for the same price, which Skype does not.

It wouldn't surprise me if they changed it. They recently removed 3G service from the inter-sim card completely. No warning, no explanation as to why. Edge still works but it's slooooooooooooow (can't skype with it).

I was wondering why I could not connect to the Internet anymore, went into their office and they said I have to upgrade to True Move H. Which I was ok with except it was going to take two weeks. I just walked across the hall to another provider instead.

Okay, to see if I could get current rates, I tried the method in the above graphic (*600*+1+area code and phone number) (no, i didn't actually put plus signs in)... Tried it several times and kept getting back that it's an invalid country code.

So anyone can confirm or disprove it's now 3 baht per minute, would be great. I'm assuming I'm not the only person on Thaivisa using true move inter-sim to call the US..??

To check the rates, I think you just have to enter the country code? *600*1# then press call, no need to add the area code and number, the country code for the U.S. is 1. You can also call 1331 to check the 00600 rate to the U.S.

I did note this in the T's & C's:

4.1 Service rates start from 1 baht/min. 24 hours a day for calls to any fixed line number registered in Unites States of America Canada China Hong Kong Singapore

Note that it says "fixed line number". Were you calling someone with a mobile number, or perhaps was it a fixed-line (home telephone)? (Also, just as an FYI, in the the U.S. people pay for incoming calls to their mobile.)

I suspect calls to mobiles are more expensive given the additional termination fees after hopping off a VoIP gateway.

*600* etc. worked just fine for me.

I got an instant text back saying "Call rate 24hrs to USA 1B/min for fixed line. 1B/min to Mobile (excl VAT 7%)"

Rates rarely change between US landlines and US mobiles for the simple reason that there is no mobile termination charge for the caller in the US, unlike much of the rest of the world. Another exception to that rule is Thailand.

Ok Darrel, thanks much for checking. I was calling a mobile, but last I checked and as you said, mobile and land line rates are the same (1b) for the US.

I'm certain I used 00600... I call the number often (my brother)... And surely had 60 baht as I'd just put the credit on. The call got cut off after 8 min and it SMS'd me saying 36 baht left. Called him again and the 36 remaining baht gone in 10 min...

Oh well, must of been a fluke? Maybe 00600 lines were down so it auto-connected me to 006? Anyways...

Maybe I have been the ripped off tourist for the last 8 years. All the SIM cards and 123 or Contact minutes I bought charged about 10 baht per minute when I used my cell phone. I would love a 3 baht per minute rate. Have I been misled and just buying the readily available minute plans and therefor paying much more than I could be? Can I buy these pre-paid minutes and would they work on my Thai cell phone?

Sounds like you've just been buying the wrong card.

I got the InterSIM card because it is the only one that has one-year validity for the cost of just one minimal value top-up. I put 50B a year on mine and that keeps the number active permanently. I mostly use it for receiving SMS messages from banks both here and in the UK.

I dont really care about the call cost as I hardly ever make outgoing calls on it, but it's nice to know that it can be one of the cheapest but also offers other levels of price/quality for those who need it.

If you're calling the USA, with 00600 True Inter-Sim (yes it should work in any Thai phone that accepts SIMs) you should get 1 baht per minute to both mobiles and landlines... There are a couple other countries you can call to with 1 baht rate too... China is one of them... I think UK land lines as well, but don't quote me on that.

I've used this Inter SIM for 3+ years... No problem... Just buy regular top-ups... For some reason, these two back to back calls I got charged the 3 baht rate... I can't figure why other than just some mixup with the outgoing call on their end... The number was correct (all 4 zeros)

I wonder if there is a way of accessing details of calls you have made online?

I've never bothered to find out but it seems likely.

Likely you're right Darrell...But, when I registered, I couldn't be bothered at the time...Some Thai girl who was handy handled giving the information to the operator to register...I don't even remember who it was..I suppose I could call the operator and ask what happened... Probably the best option..

Thanks much for checking the rates via *600*.

Cheapest calls to US (free) are with the Magicjack app for android. and iphone. You need an ok internet connection and it works great. You can also get a strange type number for people to call you from the US.

I have the Magicjack for my computer $20/yr and usually have great quality connections to US. People cannot tell where us are other then a US number shows up on their caller ID. For the paid magicjack you get a US phone number with a choice of area codes. With a weak wifi connection the calls can break up. I have not tried it on 3g yet.

True move international dial 00600 service to US is 1 baht plus 0.07 tax per minute, just tried it to check.

Should work until 15 Sep. Not sure what will happen on 16 Sep. CAT may will try a mobile "coup", if True's coup fails, but who knows if they keep 00600?

TrueMove bids to keep 17m clients after concession
Usanee Mongkolporn
The Nation July 26, 2013 1:00 am
TRUEMOVE has applied for a licence from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) as part of its intention to continue to serve all its existing 17 million-plus subscribers after its concession ends on September 15, according to an NBTC high-ranking executive.
The executive, who did not want to be named, said that the NBTC is expected to reject TrueMove's application. Granting the licence would effectively mean extending the concession contract for the company, which is beyond its purview.
Settapong Malisuwan, chairman of the NBTC's telecom committee, said yesterday that the NBTC would conclude next month which party it would appoint to take care of the combined 17 million-plus subscribers of TrueMove and Digital Phone Co for one year as part of the draft plan to remedy these customers after the companies' concession ends on September 15. The watchdog held the public hearing on the draft yesterday.
