I already have 3 Apple TV boxes at my primary residence...(downstairs living room, upstairs master bedroom and study den) and am really happy with them (for playing movies, TV shows, podcasts etc.on iTunes library and streaming Netflix movies and TV shows) in addition to:

DVD players (for old fashioned discs)

media players (xTreamer Prodigy, Dune and eGreat boxes) for downloaded torrent movies and TV shows,

True Visions HD boxes for True offerings...

GMMZ boxes left over from Euro 2012

.

.

.

however, I just saw Android TV boxes on sale at Siam Paragon............am wondering if those boxes provide anything significant that I dont already get in Bangkok???

does anyone know? many thanks!

if you run your appletv's with XBMC .. then decently NO !

if they are factory default then there are some pas can be used on android's ..

i played with one of them in fortune once .. but i did not really see the advantage (besides the more powerful hardware)

my ATV1 does basically everything ... (torrents, data management, airplay from all my Computers and iPhones (which is great .. specially if gf wants to watch soap opera recordings via youtube :P)

the other ATV simply uses the data from the old one and everything is in sync.

as of end user experience .. i think the ATV is out of the box already much better ...

and with XBMC not really something to top.

i thinking replacing my old tav soon wit ha mac mini .. for more power (not even close think of buying a android unit)

Just picked up a couple of Mede8er MED1003DX to go along side my apple TV's. They are available in BKK from HD Studio.

Really awesome media player. Plays everything perfectly. Even Blu Ray 3D ISO files and every other format you could ever need. Has a drive bay for a 2.5" or 3.5" internal HD, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, Gigabit ethernet.

Streams perfectly everything from my server. I just got tired of handbrake all the time for Apple TV.

Highly recommend it. Support is awesome within minutes any queries by email.
