Briefly ...have a a Thai step daughter..pretty smart gal and part of a team in a tech school.....problems arose with her team relying on her and thereby copying/stealing all her assignments.

.So the wife calls the teacher without knowledge of daughter and now she assigned to a smart team and everyone gets different assignments..brilliant idea... tough ...more work for the teacher..her mates are all confused now and have to do their own work!

Daughter is amazed too ....of course wifey has said nothing...lol

Also she now has an English speaking hourly paid teacher who apparently is a black Brit guy since she says "the only thing white is his teeth" lol......she is enamored with him and his teaching skills..he does not speak much Thai so all lessons are in English.....according to him "Oxford English".........WHOEVER YOU ARE MATE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, Thankyou!!

Also she is learning Chinese from a Chinese national who speaks no Thai!

So to all nay sayers .....!!

Note: This is a Thai state school!

Keep up the good work ALL you expat teachers...please........and thank you!

Nice to read such a positive story and positive comments, makes a change as most comments on here are often very negative. The majority of tefl teachers I've met have been hard-working, competent and caring teachers but it seems many expats think we are all here as a holiday extension and for the cheap beers & girls and out partying every night of the week!

"We are all here as a holiday extension and for the cheap beers & girls and out partying every night of the week!" Unfortunately, that is happening more and more, because of all these cheap teachers the schools are employing from agencies that charge the teachers $1,600 plus for a 5-month teaching job in Thailand. They come over for a good time, not a long time, and couldn't care less about the teaching. If you leave that bunch out, I agree most of the foreign teachers are very hard working and care about their students.
