Most airlines let you check in online 24 hours before departure. Before you go to the airport do it at home through their website. When I fly Thai I do this. Sometimes you do not get a boarding pass but you can still go to the internet check in line.

One still needs document check. In late June I took TG to Korea and was at Swampy at 5AM. Big lines even to Kiosk for document check. Immigration and security were very fast though.

I left BKK Sunday 5 aug. 01.20 as I have many times before. This time very little people.

I clocked from check in to I passed emigration took me 12 minutes, never happened before.

last Thursday (a national holiday in Thailand) went to Swampy for a morning outbound flight to Taipei..China Airlines biz class...

(a ) airport was incredibly PACKED

(b ) but thankfully, no waiting at China Airlines check-in counter (biz lane)...(it didnt matter that I pre-checked in on-line, but I chose my seat on-line in advance)

(c ) then Premium Fast Track lane (for security scan and then private immigration desk) which is still on ground level...it was very busy but only took a total of 30 minutes

(d ) the normal lines for economy passengers appeared to go up to second level for security check and then back down to ground level for immigration desks...those looked very loooong (so extremely glad I was able to by-pass those on that crazy day)

(e ) then walked to China Airlines lounge for free wifi, dim sum, gin & tonics and massage chair

(f ) flight delayed by 1 hour due to Typhoon Saola hitting Taiwan (thanks a lot Saola)

(g ) fantastic flight (with AVENGERS movie, surprisingly good beef, chianti and cognac)

(h ) return flight on Sunday evening fantastic

(i ) inward immigration checks were mobbed with people (both foreigner and Thai lines)...but I was directed to inward Premium Fast Track line more in the center of the terminal...

(j ) inward Premium Fast Track Lines were very civilized and orderly....had three Japanese tourists in front of me and thru in minutes...

(k ) no checked-in baggage...so breezed thru green channel at customs...

(j ) went down to ground level and got a taxi into town (1 person in front of me)

SUMMARY: Premium Fast Track really made a HUGE difference at peak times! (the difference between stress and perfection)
