Do I Understand It Right?

Featured Replies

I can find a school (any recommendations for West Bangkok? I really want to learn it)

sign in for a Thai language course

get a 1 year education visa.

Is that correct or any pitfall?

thx

You need to register with the school and get paperwork from them, with that you apply for an ED-visa in a neighbouring country. You then get a single ED-visa good for 90 days. after 90 days you go to immigraiton in Bangkok with paperwork from the school to get an extension of stay for 90 days at a cost of 1,900 baht and repeat that process every 90 days, inlcusing paying 1,900 baht for the extension.

If you apply with paperwork in your home country, they might give you a 1 year ED-visa. But that is becomming rare.

Oh and you have to attend classes, as you might be asked questions in Thai, that you should be able to answer, when visiting Immigration.

Around Central Chaengwattana are a few places, where exactly you gonna be staying

I stay in Thaveewattana....in my understanding it is as west as possible....

between Buttamonton 3 and 4.

I thought to apply in my home country, at the consul (spelling?) who was always helpful, but never asked for educational visa, I may call them before.

Going to the immigration every 90 days and depend on mood of the officer doesn't sound too nice.

I intend to really go to the classes (unless they are very bad).

Any recommendations for school? I don't care the price too much but quality should be OK.

go to immigration every 90 days or leave the country every 30 days, which sounds better

Well I had a visa for being married Cat "O". So I had to leave the country every 90 days.

While it need 1 day to do the trip, I don't have to worry if the guy who interview me had a fight with his wife in the morning and let out his bad feeling on me.

And it would be a kick in my lazy a$$ to really learn the language. Just I don't like the idea of depending on some bureaucrat.

If you have a marriage extension to you visa you just report, you don't need to leave every 90 days.....

no I have a 90 day visa valid 1 year so I need to make a visa run every 90 days and after 1 year renew the visa.

(unless I understand it complete wrong...but I got the same from my home country for a couple of years and understood that if I want a 1 year Visa I have to show 400.000)

400k would be for a one year extension of stay from immigration. If you are still married why do you want an ED multi entry visa? You can use marriage to obtain multi entry O visa and still study. As you already have been using multi entry visas for that reason see no reason you would want to change.

No I don't want a ED multi entry visa.....I hoped I can get a 1 year visa instead of 3 month (valid 1 year)....so I don't need to go to the border every 3 month.

There is no 1 year visa with which you don't have to leave the country every 90 days.

You only don't have to leave the country if you apply for an extension of stay, which is not a visa, at immigration in Thailand. For the extension of stay you will need paperwork from th school, and normally you get an extension for 90 days at a time (unless it is a university level study in which case they give 1 year).

Now my confusion is total crying.gif

You wrote before: "If you apply with paperwork in your home country, they might give you a 1 year ED-visa. But that is becomming rare."

From this I understood, there is a 1 year visa on which I don't need to apply or leave the country for 1 year.

Did I misunderstand?

You misunderstood. He was writing about an multiple entry visa valid for one year. Meaning you have to do a border run every 90 days.

You are also confusing a visa and an extension of stay which is not a visa.
