Any Tips To Make Your Dogs Stop Stealing Chickens?

Featured Replies

I have a friend on a property with dogs n chickens. He says he attaches the chicken to the dog in a way the dog cannot remove it easily. The smell of decomposing chock teaches the dog not to go near them. Or you could take up eating chicken "what chicken?".

Tell me if this works.

my brown soi dog has killed chickens. One time a thai asked if it was a European breed because thai dogs don't she thought. And she is pretty much right if you look. I think because as puppies they are kept in line by the chickens. Of course if a thai dog does not grow up with chickens it may well. Throw a stone when she is chasing them and make sure she knows that it is completely unacceptible. Might not work for a gun dog breed but one would have known that when buying such a dog.

A favourite method that has been posted many times is this:

Tie your dogs legs together so he cannot move.

Tie a dead chicken round his neck and leave him for a couple of hours.

The experience will be so bad that he will never chase a chicken again.

Sounds terrible and I have never tried it but some members have and swear by it.

true... that's what we did to dogs that chase after/kill chickens...and we got the REAL results as above.
