Actual Cost Of Kidney Dialysis ?

Featured Replies

I've done a search of the forum but can't find any actual prices. Does anyone know the price of dialysis in Bangkok, per session ? Preferably in a government hospital....

One of my friends is coming to visit for a little while and needs it twice a week. He doesn't have a lot of money though.

I think this will be difficult to arrange quickly in a government hospital. Just accessing a specialist will likely take 2 days of red tape and waits, and then there may be a waiting list for dialysis facilities. Altogether probably not worth the hassle for someone here short-term.

I suggest you contact St. Louis Hospital, this will be the least expensive private option, and see what they charge. you can assume that a government hospital would be lower but as mentioned, harder to arrange.

Make sure your friend brings all pertinent medical records, most recent lab reports and a doctor's order for dialysis from home, will save a lot of time and money.

I also strongly advise that s/he get a travel insurance policy to cover the time here. It will; nto cover the dialysis since that is for a pre-existing chronic condition but it will cover any unexpected problems, and people with renal failure are at above average risk for same. Travel insurance is usually not very expensive. I like World Nomads for it.
