Fitness First Memberships

I am thinking of joining Fitness First to work out regularly in some of their central locations in Bangkok...

From reading various older threads (and sifting through a lot of irrelevant posts in those threads) I understand their:

( a ) one location membership is about Baht1700 + VAT per month; and

( b ) platinum membership good for all locations is about Bath2200 + VAT per month.

Questions to anyone with first hand knowledge:

( c ) are my understandings above correct?

( d ) do they have a longer term discounted one-lump payment membership (like a 3 year membership), which makes the effective monthly payment significantly lower (and also saves the hassle of paying every month)?

( e ) do they provide towels etc.?

thanks!!!!

The prices you mentioned are correct.

They don't give you a discount for 2-3 yrs deal (I asked myself, but hey... you are in bkk... someone else might say something else).

Terminal 21 location doesn't offer towel services.

If you are doing weight training = True Fitness

If you are doing cardio/technogym = Fitness First

I have membership for both gyms but I found that Fitness First is not really for ppl training for muscles.

Enjoy

I pay B1980+VAT , good for all locations (including Singapore, Philippines, India etc ) EXCEPT for the Platinum locations (Landmark, Q-House and one other I can't remember). Most of my workout is 70% weights, 30% cardio (usually spinning) and I find it more than adequate, and the staff are real friendly (if you can speak Thai). The 'Iphone crowd' get a bit annoying (which seems to be about 60% of membership) but other than that I really enjoy my time there.

I have to agree with you on the weight training.

I mostly use free weights, but due to some injuries. I need a few machines for certain exercises (the machines allow me to exercise specific muscle groups without aggravating the injuries.) Fitness first is very light on the free weights, and at one location, didn't even have enough plates to reach the desired weight for a bench press. But more than that, they didn't have half of the weight machines I needed.

many thanks for all the good info!! maybe others can benefit as well

As I work and live in central BKK, I would only really be interested in more central locations, like Terminal 21, Landmark, Q House Sathorn, Sukhumvit 39 etc. so I guess I would be forced to get a Platinum membership ....interested in weights and cardio...

I was hoping for a one time payment deal for 2 to 3 years or so membership (with a 20% or so discount) but that doesnt seem to be available....

the baht 2,200 + VAT per month seems doable

(but no towel service is a bit annoying....already daily carrying gym bag with trainers and clothes and ipad/iphone etc. to work......adding a big towel is just annoying)

thanks again smile.png

I believe you can rent locker at Terminal 21 (for a fee)... maybe it would be useful for you.

just to add some newly discovered info (for the general good)...

if you pay 12 months in advance (in one lump payment), you get 2 months free (which effectively is a nice discount + locks in rate)

if you pay 24 months in advance, you get 4 months free

I may go for this (as I dont like the hassle of monthly payments, want a discount and will just pay cash (instead of handing over credit card info))

as I understood Baht 2200 + VAT per month for Platinum membership (can use all 22 clubs in Bangkok & possibly others overseas)..

so (Baht 2200) + (Baht 154 VAT) X (12 months) = Baht 28,248 (for 12 months + 2 free months) =

effectively Baht 2,018 per month for each of the 14 months

any current members, please correct me if I got it wrong...
