Potable Water Or Not

Just been to the water tech place near Big C, to check if my filtered water is potable or not. The lady there told me that they cannot do this check, they can only check for iron, Ph, etc, they cannot check for chemicals, i.e. arsenic, or other poisons and they cannot check for bacteria. She is also of the opinion that this cannot be achieved in Koh Samui. Does anyone know otherwise, of such a check?

I have haven't looked here but a kit to test for drinking water is usually pretty easy to find and most are cheap and easy to use.

Maybe in Europe or the USA etc, but I've never seen one here.

One of my neighbours had his well water checked, for all this, so it can be done... I will see if I can catch him and ask where he got it done...

It may have to be shipped off somewhere...

Samui Deep Well has a testing service. I don't know if they do everything that you want, but you can check.

Years ago we had our well water checked at Nathon hospital.

I had the water from the wells here in Plai Laem tested some 11 years ago. It was deemed potable back then. We have been drinking it for that amount of time and - so far so good.

The testing would have been done by either Water Tech or Samui Deep Well.

I let my dog do all the initial water testing at my place....She's okay, I'm okay.

Well I got a G&T only one for me and I am two sheets to the wind... he was on this fitft ... so not sure answers were totally co-herent!

But said Samui Water Works, or maybe it was Tech... near Amkro, or C big. 300 baht for a minor test, 2000 baht of major test... but have to use special bottle, they provide.... either goes to BKK or Surat thanii... for testing.....

His other way of saying to test the water is if it comes out runnng at the rear end, it's not good to drink....

I'd better leave writing responses until the affects of gin have worn off in future! I don't want to get branded with having the Big C effect....

He did say several places did it, perhaps I got mixed up with the shops, that do it and locations... Zeee German accent, you know, makes it difficult to understand... especially under the influence! ... and it don't take much for me ....
