Hi can anyone help I'm due to fly to Bangkok next week but only have one full page and 2 half pages left in my UK passport (althouogh 2 years lefton the actual passport). I applied for an Irish passport with 66 pages but just heard it has been sent back due to missing documentation (??) will I have any problems entering Thailand? Can I ask the Embassy iin Bangkok to add some extra pages for me as I would like to visit Cambodia (Angkor Wat)

Any help gratefully received.

Only American Passports get pages added UK passports have to be renewed when they are full.

Cambodia requires a full clean page for their visa. You could try getting an e visa for Cambodia online. This is printed on a piece of paper.

For your travel itinerary and visa requirements, one full page and two half pages should be enough.

Tourist visa for Thailand: one page

Tourist visa for Cambodia: no space used if you get electronic visa

Thailand two times arrival and departure stamps: two-thirds of a page

Cambodia arrival and departure stamps: one-third of a page.

In addition to the free space you have mentioned, there is probably enough space for a single arrival or departure stamp on some other pages.

You did not say how long your trip will be. If you plan to fly out of Thailand within 30 days from arrival and have a ticket for it, you do not need a visa for Thailand.

If travelling over land, on your return from Cambodia to Thailand you will get permission to stay for 15 days without a tourist visa for Thailand.

Reschedule flights and get a new passport.

That's really helpful.

Perhaps someone can suggest how to ask the Immigration officer to only stamp the half page in Thai ? I tried once but it is sort of hard to point with the counters being so tall.

Better to be safe than sorry. Why risk it?

There is no risk - entry/exit of Thailand will not be a problem and that was the question. And very likely Cambodia trip will be an issue if e-visa used. Any UK Consulate can issue an emergency passport for return home if it did become a real problem. One week is too short a period to obtain a replacement passport in UK AFAIK.

You can actually get a new UK passport on the same day, you have to make an appointment at one of Regional Passport Centres, it does cost £129.50 though.

You can also do a fast track service that gets you a passport in seven days, that costs £115.50.

The regular fee is £77.50.

Yes you can get a passport in 1 day if you book an appointment, back at the end of July the earliest suitable appointment for me was 3 weeks away which is the same time it took to get my passport renewed by normal means. July/August are the busiest periods so appointments may not be easy to get. Also as from UK no need for 1 page for a Thai visa as it will be a visa exempt 30 day on arrival and I have found Thai immigration very helpful in squeezing entry/exits stamps into half or even 1/3 pages.

Just for info.

My wife was refused booking by Air Asia because she had less than 6 months validity left in her passport.

Not sure of other airline's policy

Traveling to what country, under what passport, on a drirect flight or not

Thailand now no longer requires 6 month passport validity for most nationals. Just that the passport is valid for the proposed duration of the stay.

Flying tp Penang from BKK. Thai passport

When booking on line with Air Asia she was not allowed to complete the booking, on line. Middle of March this year.

I did start a thread on it at the time or posted in a similar thread.

As I believe I said at the time, perhaps you could book at an office , but , the online system at that time did require 6 months remaining.

Didn't know that, thanks, I thought you could only make appointments two weeks in advance.

Poster clearly stated two year validity of passport remains. As for fast issue that can be a problem from website which clearly says to allow two weeks for appointment but do not make more than two weeks early so kind of a black hole and suspect no appointment may be available without good luck.

Malaysia requires 6 month validity, so they were right to refuse.

You are off topic. The OP stated that her UK passport, with which she will travel, has a remaining validity of two years.

Don't know if it still applies but at one time I believe they wanted 6 months and for some reason 6 full pages.

Sorry should have said 6 clear pages.

Off topic. The OP plans to travel to Cambodia, not Malaysia. Different country, different requirements regarding passport validity, and anyway the OP's passport is still valid for two years. Start a new topic if you want to talk about Malaysia.

Many thanks to everyone who replied. I tried to make an emergency appointment here in Liverpool but the next available appointment was 7th Sept and I fly on 3rd Sept. I have now decided to go ahead with the valid UK passport and it has one full page and 2 half pages and even a few small spaces that a small stamp could fit in so hopefully all will be ok for travelling in and out of Thailand. Duration of stay btw is one month I fly in on 3rd Sept and out on 3rd Oct (or is that one day too many?) I may just bypass the Cambodia trip (again) to save hassle although would have loved to have seen Angkor Wat. There is the option of applying for a Cambodian visa online beforehand but is it too late to do that now? Many thanks again for all your good advice.

No problem on arrival in Thailand but it could be a problem at the departure airport in the UK. Some check-in staff do not look for the visa but the IATA guidelines for airlines mention the requirement of a visa if flight out of Thailand is not within 30 days and 3 SEP–3 OCT is counted as 31 days since both the day of arrival and day of departure are counted.
