Phuket To Khao Lak

Featured Replies

I am trying to ascertain the best method of transportation to Khao Lak from Phuket Airport. The hotel in question is asking for 1700 baht one way transfer charges. Is this normal or can anyone assist me in trying something more reasonable for this 100 km journey. Their price sems a little tourist orientated. But maybe I am out of touch with local pricing structures.

Please reply by PM.

Many thanks

Considering the taxi prices on Phuket, I would say 1700 is a bargin.

Taxi from there will be 1500 Baht normally. So 1700 Baht is certainly not outrageous.

i'll do it for 1399 on a day im not busy ;) 17L of gas for about 600 baht that leaves 800b of free food at the beach

To Bang Niang 10 minutes or so further up. I pay 1200-1400. Have done the trip 2 times during the last month, so I think the prices are up to date..

Haggle with the drivers which will approach you when you step out of the arrival hall, you should be able to get it for 1200 Baht. Have the telephone number of the hotel in Khao Lak at hand, so that they, if needed, can explain the driver where the hotel is.

contact boss taxis,he is the most reliable, you can look on tripadvisor,he charges my customers 1200b. i dont think you will find cheaper than that

having said that ,it depends which hotel,if you are at le meridien then it is miles from khao lak,but if you are staying in khao lak, that is the going rate.

all this guy from Khao Lak, he drives a Honda civic: 08 5786 xxxxxxx, last time I used him (March 2012) paid 1000b

Please use PM function.

Not a problem for many but the unofficial (iligal?) taxis won't carry any insurance for carrying fare paying passengers right?
