the finals were last night. gig didn't make it through. another phuket artist, ajarn romadon, made it to the finals. but the winner was some guy who did chinese acrobats.

Phuket's other newspaper sent a couple of email bulletins.

I watched Gig last night and she didn't sing the first few bars of the song particularly well though improved towards the end.

I realised I have seen Romadon before as he used to perform at the local reggae bar in Karon occasionally.

Why am I posting this? All these talent shows are crap, but I suppose as a change from the usual Thai programming it's something a bit different. No, I didn't sit through the whole thing; saw about half an hour which happened to be when the two Phuket acts were on. Oh, and a fat kid dancing.

Gig got through to the last 6 but no further. Still, it's a remarkable achievement and she is now known throughout Thailand which can only help her career. Well done Gig.

You must be gutted.......though you can put your pom-poms down now.

If only she had the same "approach" to the competition as Mayor Pian Keesin had with the election. I'm sure she would have won. :) :)

Eliminate the opposition?

I had the privilege of seeing Gig 'live' at Work Point studio both in the Final and Semi-final. As part of the 'live' audience i can guarantee that Gig got the best audience reaction (and arguably the judges) in the Final, even though she had the smallest 'fan club' there. Gig's Final performance (as below link) has had a very positive Internet forum/Rexona (Thai language) feedback.

I called Gig yesterday and she agreed that getting into the Top 6 out of 20,000 participants was wonderful. Now back in Phuket, Gig will be performing back in Bangkok on 27 October alongside other TGT finalists, and I thank Gig for the personal invite. Gig also said she was delighted that some 'farangs' actually went to Work Point to see Gig 'live'; compared to the semi-final where the only 'farangs' there were myself and Gig's boyfriend.

Gig says that she will be returning to play in Phuket once again very soon.
