Was squeezed by a car on the right and got too close to the curb trying to stay clear of him and heard that unwelcome grinding sound. Just wondering if the scrape can be repaired. It's between the two red lines, quite significant. This is 17" low profile Modulo wheels. Not exactly cheap to replace but just checking my options first.

Most factory and other alloy wheels are enameled (painted), looks like yours are. If not painted they can be skimmed but yours are enameled. sad.png

Is your spare the same type wheel ? if so swap.

These wheels are cast alloy and can take a bit of punishment. Look at the wheel closely for signs of cracks.

Get the tyre broken from that side of the wheel check for cracks along the outside and inside as TA says if OK get a file and dress it back to smooth then a can of spray colour, motorbike shops are the best Nippon Paint BEE LX spray it and use it after a couple of weeks your brain will adjust and stop you looking at every time smile.png , if your inability to avoid the curb was due to you fitting 17' wheels there is a lengthy thread running on that subjectlaugh.png .

Many local rim sellers do that as they recondition many of their rims for sale I had a brand new rim seriously injured in a similar instance to yours where I was forced over on the edge of the road and hit a serious pothole which unseated the tire bead and cracked the rim bead something terrible and I brought to a local rim store and they reconditioned it in a few days nearly perfectly (I say "nearly" as it showed slightly on the inside but still hard to tell) for a very reasonable price and since I had a matching spare I had already installed, I just rotated this one to the spare.

Mine was painted with polished aluminum highlights and clear coated obviously and the damage went into the color so it was necessary to repair both the polished aluminum and the painted surface..

kartman@ 17" low profile were standard equipment on the car, Civic 2.0, but optioned the Modulo wheels for the factory standard.

WarpSpeed@ These are also enameled and clear coated and will take a look around for shops.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The car was flawless until now. sad.png

Ok good luck, I think you'll find one, I was very satisfied with the result and the cost was negligible in comparison.. Silver is most common, color matching should be a snap especially on a rim.. On second look, I guess not really silver, more of a platinum yes?

They call it Bronze, but a bit dirty at the moment and phone doesn't bring the color out. Seems in the shade it's more gray and in the bright light more bronze.

I'm pretty sure it can be fixed and repainted - just check the paint matches the other wheels.

^May be some variation but probably will be a dam_n sight better then it is now.. It could always be the spare even repaired and put a new one or the current spare on instead if it's the same rim..
