LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) -- A group of suspected bank robbers hurled cash out of their vehicle Wednesday during a high-speed police chase in the Los Angeles area, prompting residents to rush out onto the streets in hopes of grabbing some of the money being thrown out.

The incident began at approximately 10:08 a.m. local time on Wednesday when three males entered a Bank of America branch in Canyon Country, a community in Santa Clarita, and carried out an armed takeover bank robbery. A fourth suspect was waiting in a getaway car outside the bank.

Following the bank robbery, the four suspects fled the scene in their getaway car but were quickly located by deputies and detectives from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. The suspects refused to stop their black Volvo SUV which had been reported stolen hours earlier, prompting a high-speed police chase.

Early on in the pursuit, two of the suspects exited the vehicle at two different locations in Sylmar. One of the suspects was later arrested in the same area but the second suspect remained at large on Thursday, said Captain Mike Parker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

As local television stations in Southern California and the national Fox News network interrupted their regular programming to bring live helicopter footage from the police pursuit, the two remaining suspects in the SUV began throwing cash out of the vehicle in South Los Angeles.

"The suspect vehicle continued to drive recklessly while throwing cash out of the vehicle in South Los Angeles," Parker said. "The pursuit and extremely dangerous actions of the suspects was televised live by many TV stations."

Hundreds of residents in the area rushed out onto the streets in the hopes of grabbing some of the money being thrown from the vehicle, making the police pursuit even more dangerous. Several people narrowly avoided being hit by either the suspect vehicle or police vehicles involved in the pursuit.

"The pursuit ended at Vernon Avenue and Kansas Avenue in South Los Angeles, where the two remaining suspects were taken into custody. At least one of the three suspects arrested is from the South Los Angeles area," Parker said. The bank robbery is being investigated by both the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

In America, there are bank robbers who do what's described in the OP, and then there are bank robbers who sit at the heads of polished corporate tables along Wall Street. And yet others, who get appointed to head task forces on Economic Policy in Wash.D.C. - which wind up taking taxpayer money by the tens of billions, and shovel it in to the laps of badly run corporations. Or shovel billions in to the coffers of companies which produce no product or service, except play with (and lose) other peoples' money.
