My son just mailed me from Switzerland telling me not to install, and I heard bad stuff on the BBC this morning. Sounds like you need 3G to get the best out of the new navigation app. which is inaccurate even for Switzerland.

The ios6 upgrade also busted Wifi on a load of devices - something to do with an Apple server outage.
