Hiv+ American Moving To Thailand

Featured Replies

I'm moving to Thailand, or am hoping to rather.

While this should be exciting, it is also nerve-racking when I think about the unknowns. I hope someone out there can help with my questions..

I will be working, and my work will be handling my visa.

My questions are:

- Do they screen for HIV for a visa? Will I be denied when they get my results?

-What are some of the options in terms of receiving care and medication? Any good clinics?

Thanks!

There is a health check required to obtain a work permit. HIV is one of the diseases they look for.

Not the case for WP, they check for syphilis stage 3 as the only STD. Of course there are some correlations I believe between the two.

BTW - post removed as inflammatory. If you can't help then don't post here.

As a poster previously answered : there is NO health check for HIV for a WP. However the employer could send you for a check up/ blood test. While this is illegal what can you do? However in the teaching industry this seems a rare occurrence.
