I think Charles Moore's question in the Telegraph is most telling: How did all the Danish flags suddenly materialize for burning in Gaza and elsewhere? Moore writes

Why were those Danish flags to hand? Who built up the stockpile so that they could be quickly dragged out right across the Muslim world and burnt where television cameras would come and look? The more you study this story of "spontaneous" Muslim rage, the odder it seems.” :o

This cartoon comes off an European site.

My bet is more folks are starting to see the situation like this:

Can't see the cartoon except for a small red X; maybe I have to change something in the computer settings?

CNN has been accompanying every story about the cartoon jihad with the boilerplate message:

CNN has chosen to not show the cartoons out of respect for Islam.

But they apparently have no such “respect” for Christianity; they didn’t hesitate for a second to show this image of the virgin Mary made out of elephant dung and pictures of female genitalia: New York, Brooklyn museum settle funding dispute.

Why don’t they just come clean and admit why they won’t show the Mohammed cartoons?

CNN has chosen to not show the cartoons out of fear of Islam. :o

This sums up my feelings (?) about Muslims in Australia.

It could apply to your country......

"The right to offend within the law remains crucial to our free speech & way of life. Muslims who choose to live in the West must accept that we too have a right to our values, and to live according to them... Those Muslims who cannot tolerate the openness and robustness of intellectual debate in the West have chosen to live in the wrong culture."

Go for a walk down Bondi beach nowadays and you will see hundreds of men in long skirts and black beards.

Why are they there? Not for a suntan....... :D

PS, thanks to Camerata for posting the piece from Charles Moore of the DT.

I too, wondered where the Danish flags came from so quickly! :o

They are there to commit hypocrisy getting their jollies from looking at all the skin that their beliefs tell them they aren't supposed to see.

It's no different that other middle eastern hypocrites when they go to visit the US president at his home in Texas. The strip joints in the surrounding areas do jam-up business every time.

Cool! :D

And Spee, where you attacking the press that didn't publish the pictures, or the press in Europe that did?

Your response to my post was filled of rage, but the target was unclear.

You're utterly and completely clueless. There was no rage in my words, nor any "target", only trying to rationalize what happened and why.

I could frankly care less whether these cartoons got published in one newpaper or another, or one country or another. They don't offend me, but they obviously offended other people.

The point was that rather drastic action like this by major media outlets (or inaction in the case of CNN, Time, Newsweek, USA Today, etc.) to publish this kind of content that is bound to offend and inflame a lot of people, is not done without some rationale and thought behind it.

It is also not don't without some sort of political or covert influence. Maybe this was the result of some propaganda campaign by a western government. Maybe this was the result of some propaganda campaign by a radical middle eastern government.

The point is there has to be a reason why all this stuff was republished 4 months after it first appeared. There has to be a reason why US press did not republish. There has to be a reason why those offended completely under-reacted the first time it was done, and completely over-reacted this time.

These aren't just a bunch of random occurrences.

The Sad Reality of the Danes' Lack of Respect for Others' Culture and Beliefs

Comming from you, that must be something positive.

And no, as already been mentioned, the last weeks of rage aren't happening due to the rising of the moon, placement of Jupiter or how Big Foot helped Loch Ness shoot JFK.

It's happening due to internal critisism in a country over hundreds of dead, again, in a little yearly march, that happened recently.

Ofcourse it's not coincident.

And btw, two american publications have printed the cartoons now.

Boon Mee>> Congratulations, you managed to click my link. :D

I did?

Well, I just tried now and it's dead. You might want to re-post it? :o

It fully works if you post it in a new browser-window. They just blocked get-requests from others servers.

I just heard on Radio Thailand that Thai rapper Joey Boy has apologized to the Muslim community and withdrawn his CD from the market because one of the songs contains a verse from the Koran.

As for UK and US newspapers "choosing" not to publish the offending cartoons, I think this has more to do with the situation in Iraq than anything else. If they publish, there will likely be a new spate of kidnappings and murders of civilians and the editors will be blamed by the public and their government alike. It could also affect the attitude of moderate Iraqis towards the allies.

In the end, no matter what governments say, terror is very effective. Just ask Salman Rushdie. He sure got religion (back) fast when faced with a life in hiding or a bullet in the head. I doubt anyone else will ever write a satirical book about the Prophet after what happened to him. And Khomeini's fatwah was a timely reminder to all lapsed/former Muslims that the penalty for apostasy is death.

So now instead of leaving it to the law - a key principle of Western civilization - Western newspapers have to exercise self-censorship to avoid the terrorizing and intimidation of fellow citizens. What a sad world we live in.

Absolutely.

It's going to take some time to work out too. Iran is intensifying the rhetoric now by having a contest for 'best' holocaust cartoon. Just hope we can all live through this... :o

Here's an example of what could be termed a cartoon contest from the 'other' side:

You know what they say about drug-dealers..."only the stupid ones get caught".

BBC news reports state that he has been sent back to the hoosegow.

And while we're on the subject of people who belong in the can:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4690224.stm

Even Imam's and respected leaders of London's Islamic community are saying that he belongs behind bars and does not deserve to be associated with the majority of decent law abiding Muslims in Britain and around the world.

Hopefully when the Brits are done with him, they will extradite him to the US to stand charges facing him there.

Good bye and good riddance!

Danish Imams Busted!

One of the pictures displayed around the Middle East by a Danish Islamic group seeking to whip up anti-infidel rage supposedly showed Mohammed as “a pig.” Neandernews has discovered the source for this picture—and it has nothing to do with Mohammed: Danish Imams Busted!

Now that they've insulted the prophet Mohammed---KILLED him, actually, since many Moslems seem to believe that to insult the prophet is to kill him---are they going to declare a fatwa against themselves, and saw off their own heads? :o

As some of you know, I've recently returned from working in a muslim country (Afghanistan) for just over 2 years.

Most of the people I got to know while there were common folk. Construction workers, low-level police and immigration officials, market vendors and so on.

One thing that stuck me while there, and we see it in Thailand a lot, is the hypocrisy. On one hand, these people want their women covered from head to toe, then they ask me for CDs and magazines that show "sexy" photos. They don't allow alcohol sales, but every second person (in Afghanistan) would ask me to bring them beer or vodka.

As for religion ? Well, that was a taboo subject, sure to spark angry debate if ever brought up. It is amazing how fast seemingly well adjusted people would turn on you when the subject of religion was brought up.

Islam is supposedly a religion of peace and tolerance. Moderate muslim leaders keep repeating this on various news channels every time there is a riot or other incident. One does not have to look too far or too hard to see how untrue this really is. What those muslim leaders really mean is that Islam would be a religion of peace and tolerance, if everyone else converted (or was eliminated).

Even then, it is unlikely there would be peace or tolerance. Look at the Sunni and Shi-ites in Iraq and tell me again about peace and tolerance.

I do know muslims that are fairly progressive (moderate) in their thinking, but they are few and far between. In a society where you have to believe what your religious leaders tell you or face possibly fatal repercussions, many moderates are afraid to speak out.
