Has anybody received treatment in Lerksin Hospital? I am being transfered there from a hospital in Chumphon to see a back specialist tomorrow with the possibility of having keyhole surgery on my lower back. What is the impression of the hospital from the members eho have been treated there?

I've been at Lerksin hospital for two days and I'll give a brief review since it seems no-one has been here.

I arrived after a very bumpy eight hour ambulance ride which left me in intense pain, my wife had to buy the pain relief which was injected, the doctor said it was the strongest they have available. Many of the hospital staff speak at least a little english which helps alot, the doctors seem to be quite good and most of them speak english to a good extent. The only problem I have had with any doctor here was in triage, he was a junior doctor who wanted to send people home, he told me to go home eventhough I was in intense pain and was unable to urinate, once I made it clear I was not in any condition to go home he went and got one of his superiors who ordered him to admit me.

The room costs are, in a room shared by six patients 800 baht per night, single room 1600 baht per night, since I have to pay first and claim later and I don't know how long I will be here for, I have opted for the first option. Off to physio some time today. The hospital bill is to be paid every three days.

Heading home on tuesday, the hospital staff have looked after me quite well and the doctors are very good, except for that one junior doctor in triage who tried to send me home. The number of doctors, nurses and physio staff who speak english to the point of being understandable is impressive. Off to the clinic at home with referral in hand to continue with physio treatment and maybe accupuncture as well.

I assume you mean Lerdsin Hospital on Silom. It is supposed to be one of the countries leading government hospitals in the field of orthopedics and physiotherapy. Get well soon.

I was relying on my wife's pronounciation for the spelling, the hospital's reputation is the reason the insurance rep told me to come here instead of a private hospital, she said the best doctors in the country are here, and after dealing with them for just over a week I would find it hard to disagree. That being said, I will be glad to be heading home tomorrow, off to the clinic on wednesday with referral in hand to continue physiotherapy.
