Sorry did a search but every page of info is gobble gook [format error ?} about 90 day '0' and extensions....

Friend is coming for the winter, can they get a 30 day extension from immigration ? or any extension on a single Non '0' as will stay for over 90 days here............. Thanks

What basis does the person have for the non immigrant O visa entry? If for Thai wife/child visit there is a 60 day extension of stay option available (would likely require there presence as well as ID/marriage certificate or birth certificate type proof).

Being over 50, [66] normally stays for just under the 90 days, this year wants to stay a month longer.

Have him get a two entry tourist visa and make one trip to border and return. Visa will be same price as single entry non immigrant O visa so only the border trip extra. Will cover about 119 days without extension of stay and can be extended if required.

He can get an extension for up to 1 year, with proof of:

- having an income of 65,000 a month (can be from abroad and must be certified by the embassy)

OR

- having 800,000 baht in abank account in Thailand for 2 months

OR

- having a combination of tyearly income and money in the bank in Thailand, together totaling 800,000 baht.

Might be best to just get a multiple entry non-O, and leave after 90 days to come back the same day for another 90 day stay. Or get a double entry tourist visa for 2,000 baht in local currency. That would mean stay for 60 days, leave and re-enter for another 60 days, which can be extended by another 30 days if need be. This will be the cheapest sollution.

Thanks, but he has already got the single entry 0 on Monday. arrives next week.

Than it is getting a one year extension as above, or simply leaving and flying in again from a neighbouring country (this will give him 30 days if he qualifies for visa exempt entry) or getting a tourist visa in a neighburing country after his 90 days are finished.

He might want to consider cancelling his non-O and get a double entry tourist visa. Probably the cheapest option.

So the answer is No, you cannot get any form of extension from Immigration on a single '0' just on a TR ? for 30/60 days.. only if your married to a Thai.

The answer is that you cannot get a 30 or 60 day extension but can get a 1 year extension if you meet the requirement of post 5.

Passed it on, pointing out that if he gets a 1 year extension before the end of the 90 days, then he has no need to get any Visa for the 2013/4 winter.......... just a re-entry.

Be sure he knows he must get that re-entry permit in Thailand before he leaves if he goes for the one year retirement extension of stay.
