Sophon Provider In Thailand

Featured Replies

A friend of mine today got internet installed through the provider SOPHON,

He uses EXPRESS VPN and now since the installation several applications dont run or become jammed e.g SKYPE keeps dropping etc

Is there some known issue with SOPHON and using VPN's ?

THANKS for any info

Let's try this over in the Computer forum. Topic Moved.

I thought Sophon was cable TV in Pattaya?

It is. They also do broadband cable internet (fibre in some cases, depending on where you live).

I have it and it works fine, also using a VPN and Skype, though I wouldn't choose to route Skype over a VPN as it's pointless.

Cant vouch for their internet but the TV is crap. We signed up for a year and the Mrs is so frustrated she will not get it again. The slightest rainstorm and it goes out. Sometimes it goes out for a whole day for no reason. I am sure this may not be the same for everyone but here in Jomtien in the area we live it is extremely unreliable. I guess it is cheap for a reason.

I use a VPN with sophon, no problem accessing, but slow speed. In fact its slow without the VPN to anywhere else in the world.

Today I have no internet at all, and they will not come out till tomorrow, the whole of my building has no TV or internet. They are as bad as the rest of the ISP's in Pattaya.

They advertise 10MB but what they don't tell you is that is just for Thai sites, anything international is 1MB

I have reported faults at 2pm and they have been round at 3pm. I know of no other provider in Pattaya that even comes close to this.

Your problem sounds as though it might be serious: maybe they just wont have the parts until tomorrow?

Not true. I regularly get my full 4Mbits from an international server, but it does depend on where the server is located.
