Do you really need live broadcast? I can't imagine why I would want to be watching infomercials rather than a downloaded file of a program I want to see.

That was my argument with Phil Connors a few months back. His comment was he didn't want to have to wait for a download to be able to watch TV, and he liked surfing the channels to see what's on. Plus, not all shows are available via download. At least that I've been able to see????

I'm in the US now. 256 channels and STILL can't find anything to watch! I too prefer to download....

Most programs I would want to watch are available on usenet as NZB files and prefer to watch a complete series so download all and watch a few each day until move to the next - helps the old mind keep track as don't have to wait a week for the next session. Like a never ending movie for a few weeks.

HA! I keep a piece of paper by my remote so I remember what episode I'm on! It is nice to get the entire season.

I'll have to research your technique...

If you have an Android device, look at an app called "SeriesGuide" - takes care of all of that for you.

As it's probably not allowed for discussion in forums, could you PM me what you use for Usenet? Cheers.

Almost all of my video watching is for news, I am a political and news junkie. Many news shows, like the Sunday morning talk shows aren't on YouTube or downloadable. I don't need live, only for hot new news, and would prefer downloads by far. We only have Fox available on cable here, no CNN, etc. That will allow me to get through election night without need for internet use at all.

just go slingsharing.com and find someone who is renting out a slingbox it is costing me 100$ a month and it is so worth it I get 280 channels of goodness with dvr.

Cinemax, HBO, Showtime, starz, All sport package etc...

I can watch on my tv, my phone etc... HD quality but you need hi speed internet to get HD

Time zone difference. Makes live broadcasts here pretty frustrating. Yes you can DVR i guess.

I second the NZB, NZB search providers, usenet provider, Sickbeard, SabNzB running 24/7 on a dediated server such as a synology.

Bugger to setup initially - but once it's done I have not found another method that works better with zero input from the enduser. Streamed to a media player via SMB or NFS. Bliss
