Have a local friend ( hehehe .... No, not me , really ) who has the mother of all gambling addictions. Basically, he is on a professional salary ( educated, well employed ) but just can't help himself. At present, and gambled every last cent away ( 10 years processional work), has no assets, does not eat properly ( cause money goes to gambling ), and even is looking like a drug addict cause of cloths, and general appearance. Very serious.

100% positive not doing drugs, but needs some serious help and is willing to see a psychologist.

anyone got any advice where to go with such things ?

Good luck.

Thanks........ will see what can be done, but the symptoms look very similar to drug addicts......

Suppose the most important question is does he want to stop ?....if he doesnt all the doctors in the world aint going to change anything

If he is in BKK, might be worth contacting PSI, as they offer counseling services.

Yes, wants to stop, lonely and depressed..... But, it's an addiction, and as such stopping is not easy.

What's Psi ?

Again, please see the pionned thread

If this man is sufficiently motivated and can afford it, you might weant to consider the home stay option provided by Tim Armstrong - he can provide intensive and personalized counseling in an away-from-home (and thus away from usual gambing haunts) setting, and he has experience working with people with various addiction disorders. Contact info is in the above thread.
