Cut N Paste Text In Pdf Files?

Featured Replies

How to cut n paste text from a dozen PDF files onto one new document.... PDF /Word/ Txt ..whatever??

Can anyone suggest a decent proggy ?

I've used Firefox & Adobe but they will not let me edit.

Open Office didn't help

also d'loaded a 'convert PDF to Word' but I can only edit one line at a time...not really practical.

Word seems to let you do anything why are PDF documents a problem?

Am I supposed to pay or what?

cheers for any directionssmile.png

Assuming you are a Windows user, Foxit PDF Editor will do what you want...........

Can you not lock PDFs to prevent people doing this?

Anyway, I use PDF-Xchange and unless the thing is locked down, there is a text tool to grab bits that you want for copy and paste.

PDF format is not a word processing format it is really a printing language which can be used across different computers. Sometimes the document has been made in the form of an image and hence text cannot be cut. Sometimes text can be cut as it is converted from an editable document. The format also allows people to lock their files in varying ways to control reuse.

This means some text can be cut some can not. I would suggest trying to cut and paste the snipets into notebook first.

The PDF program is doing exactly what it is suposed to. Enable a document to be read.

Nitro PDF, you can convert the PDF to a Word doc. Make all the changes you need..copy paste etc. www.nitropdf.com

Yes you can. There are also utilities to unlock any document should one wish to copy the PDF contents in text/OCR or image format. Acrobat does it all as well, but not free.

My Word 2013 will open a pdf document and it will also save in pdf format. Passwords and protections are still in place - they are they for a reason.

I have not tried opening a pdf document with pictures, so I don't know how that affects things.

So what did you end up doing? Just for the edification of the rest of us.

Just to complete the topic. And without resorting to programs to break copyright . If you print the pdf and then scan it with OCR you can often convert the image even if it has been made from an image scan. Sounds messy but it is pretty quick really.

I remember that some software can edit texts in PDF files directly...it should also be able to cut/paste texts.rolleyes.gif

These only work if the pdf has been generated from text. Many pdfs are just an image like you get when you scan a page. To get text from an image requires the equivalent of an OCR operation.
