Travel To Uttaradit

Featured Replies

Not sure if correct local forum but here goes. Wife talked about going up to Uttaradit for a few days from our place in western Phetchabun province.

Is there anything to do in Uttaradit? Are there any decent sites to see? Any decent hotels? Don't need the Ritz but don't want a shack either.

I would rather keep going north and spend a few days in Chiang Mai instead. Plenty to see and do there.

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

PS.

Will be at our place just north of Wang Pong/Chon Daen in early December, if anyone in that area is interested in getting together and for some brew and food.

I like loops

How about the easy drive to Uttaradit the first day, should only be a few hours from your place. I have wahted to scout around there some. There are some decent places stay a afternoon, night, and morning. Have a look and if anything strikes you stay longer. Then take the few hour drive up to Chiang mai and stay a few days there doing what you like. (Drop me a line and my wife and I could join you for lunch or dinner)

Head south, Main road or back towards Tak. Maybe a night at Bhumbol dam. So beautiful and many places to stay. them back twards home.

Have you already traveled through the Uttaradit neck of the woods?

I haven't, she has. Looks like we're going to end up just doing a slow loop up through Uttaradit and Lampang to Chiang Mai, then back down through Tak, Sukothai and P'lok. No set schedule, just stopping to see what catches our fancy.

I would take the time to drive to Sirikit dam. IIRC it's about an hour and a beautiful drive. There's a golf course just before you get there. I would spend a whole day going up and back and looking around. It's really beautiful.

I'll second this, I've been to Sirikit Dam a couple of times and really enjoy it. Do yourself another favor and check out the ancient ruins in Sukhothai, you can easily spend an entire day there.

I too would recomend a trip to Sirikit Dam as well. Udit is a nice little place that sits in the slow lane, I like it there. Enjoy.
