First Trip To Ranong Tomorrow

Featured Replies

We are taking our first trip to Ranong (visa run) tomorrow.

As there are 3 of us, I'm planning to drive ourselves.

I just have a couple of questions if you're able to assist with these.

1. What time do the boats start running and immigration open? (I was hoping to leave really early and get to Ranong around 7-8am)

2. When you arrive in Ranong, is it easy to find the immigration office? Any tips?

3. How much money will we need for visas/ boat etc?

4. Our current 30 day visa actually expires today, (I've been crook all weekend and today with food poisoning). Are we going to encounter any issues tomorrow?

5. Any other tips?

Regards

Take the Andaman Club ferry. Do not use the long tail ferry.

Andaman club ferries start early 08.00 and Immigration desk is at the ferry office.

I don't know today's ferry charge, but it covers the processing with Myanmar Immigration so you don't need to have the US $10 in hand.

Andaman ferry point is a little hard to find. It's on the north side of town way out in the sticks.

^^^What LK said, much easier, and safer. However, you will need to pay the overstay at the main immigration office at the long tail pier. I would still go to the Andaman pier for the crossing. No problem with overstay, just pay 500 per day and a smile. Edt: Also, they may try and hit you with 2 days overstay IMHE

You must go to immigration first, so I don't see the point of getting there before they open. They are located here: http://maps.google.c...1,0.016512&z=17

You will need $10 US Dollars to pay in Burma for your entry/exit stamps. I would also avoid taking a long tail boat over. It can get pretty wet and rough. You may get charged an over stay as your visa expired today....

+1 on the Andaman Club.

I have to go in the next 2 weeks but I would much rather go in a car. I'll go with you if you have room and want someone else to share expenses. PM me your number if your interested.
