I'll be flying into Udon Thani on Xmas day, early morning, and was wondering if anyone knows of any British bars doing Xmas dinner.

I've only spent 1 day in Udon before so don't know of any British bars. I've only heard of the Irish Clock but wouldn't have a clue where it is.

Any help appreciated.

Irish clock is good as is the bookhouse, look at udonmap dot com and udon talk dot com, have a good one!

Also the Kinaree, City Lodge hotel, Chern Chim. As advised above look at the Udon centric forums.

I'd also suggest the Irish Clock. Had their Sunday fare last month and it was excellent. Only about 300 baht.

Be warned that the Christmas Dinners are not cheap. They tend to be 3-5 course meals that will start around 600 baht.

The Bookhouse & Coffee Shop lunch/dinner is 750 baht and they are asking for a 200 baht deposit now to reserve your table. I would not be surprised if they have sold out.

To carry on from KaronSteve I think in Udon your biggest problem will be at least at the good places sold out. I went a couple of years ago at Christmas and bars etc very busy for Xmas fare. As a previous poster wrote it would be good to have a look at Udon centric websites, find a place that looks ok and book in advance if you can. I ended up eating Thai food at Patchanee (excuse spelling) near Nong Prajak lovely setting on a December afternoon and I have always had excellent food there. Hope you enjoy, I always like trips there, good variety of things to do but tourist count is much lower.

Good god if you consider 600 baht expensive it would appear you have lost touch with reality,

Stoney I have no idea what part of Thailand you live in but here in Udon there isn't a single restaurant where you could spend 600 baht a head on food alone so to me 600 baht is not cheap.

Well to give you an idea of what he means the average price of a christmas lunch on Samui is 1000 baht. Very expensive for a glorified sunday roast!
