What is the value of an IDL. Last week whilst at the traffic dept on Samui, getting my 5 yr car & m/b licences. A couple of Russians came after the 9 am start for test time and became quite arguementive when they were told that they could not just get a Thai licence on the strength of their IDL. They were told to "put on proper" shirts, and come back next day by 9am to do test if they wanted Thai licences. They just could not understand that they could not get their own way by shouting at the girl !

The IDP is of value the reason for their IDP is the translation of Russian into English on their licenses but they will need more than that as "cooked" has noted.

Well done to the lady at the DLT, quite right too.
