Looking For Shop To Convert Dv Video Tapes To Mov Files

Featured Replies

I have a whole bunch of these from my old video camera. The tapes are virtually obsolete now, but the ones I have I want to back up onto a hard drive before they rot. I'm finding it difficult to find somewhere that will convert them. I tried the 'Sunshine' shop in Fortune Town as they do VHS to DVD so was surprised they didn't offer this service and am wondering where I can get this done before it's too late.

Cheers

Pantip has everything. There are some shop on right side near the back that do conversions. Forget Fortune

Do you still have the cam. with rca plug or some kind of connector. What type of tape is it? Get a vid capture device and record them via vlc or even windows movie makers capture function. This is what they do anyway at the shop. Use factory format to make any format you like.

Transferring to DVD, *and*, then copying the resultant DVD to hard drive might be prudent.

I'll try Phantip cheers. I could of course do it myself but it would take forever and a day.

If you have miniDV camera and firewire cable why don't you do it yourself?

A proper de-interlacing and encoding Tmpgenc or similar would provide much better results than low-bitrate, interlaced (or progressive without de-interlacing, which is even worse) encodings from shops.

As I said, it would take forever. I have over 70 hrs worth and the camera would burn out long before then.
