Firefox / Gmail Problem

Featured Replies

Have used Firefox to access GMail for several years on the particular computer that I am using now...... there has been no recent changes of significance.

Now I can still access GMail..

See, Read and reply to emails

On writing an email, can no longer make Font changes, change text colour, etc.

Cannot delete emails.

Cannot move email to a folder.

Cannot access Settings, etc.

If I log on to another computer... absolutely no problem.

Can access fully using IE or Chrome.

Have deleted Firefox and reinstalled. No change to problem.

Firefox has had several updates over the years, does the problem still exist running Firefox in safe mode?

Have tried SafeMode... No change. Version is 17.0.1 which is also installed on several computers here...and Gmail runs ok on them.

That is very odd behavior indeed. I have no issues with gmail and FF 17.0.1

Might I suggest that you clear out all your FF cache and cookies on the install of FF that is causing you problems.

You can do that easily from within FF by hitting ctrl-shift-del and then select the everything option. Then restart FF and try again.

Followed your suggestion but no change...Then uninstalled and reinstalled. Still no joy. Difficult to get response from either Gmail and Firefox support,

Right now considering the deepest part of Gulf of Thailand to dump the unit...wink.png

What sort of comp. and what O/S are you using?

I think you already have the answer - gmail and chrome are birds of a feather

PC with Win 7 Ultimate. We have 4 identical units.. same software, etc. It is only this unit with problem.

The only change has been a new MB (HDD was removed prior to change)

One thing I have just noticed is that some programs such as my internet banking and PayPal no longer appear in graphic mode... only text... That is the only two that I have observed so far.

Besides running Firefox in safe mode (which you already have), did you try running Win7 in safe mode with networking to see if it solves issue? I had another problem like this that went away when running Win7 safe mode, I couldn't figure why it only worked in Win7 safe mode, and ended up doing a factory system reinstall and everything worked again! Took some time tho.

It would appear that when the new MB was installed, the date was set to 2011. The Firefox and Chrome security system rejected certain aspects of their particular system, hence the problem. Immediately on resetting the correct time/date, all came good.

Thanks to all who offered help.
