manzan
The Sportage looks like a nice SUV, Anyone any idea if it will come to Thailand in the near future? currently it looks like it isnt even available as an import? Also Hyundai Santa Fe seems nice, i know the Tucson is available, but not to sold on that one, any opinions? I was also wondering about the Audi Q3, currently only available from grey importers. If the X1 can sell for 2M, the Q3 could be similarly priced if they were to do the assemby locally, as with the X1 et al. Unbelievable how little choice we have here, compared to how big the market is for these SUV's....
IMHO
The Sportage was officially imported up until 10 years ago, but never sold well. No buzz at all suggesting it will make a return. No word on whether or not Audi plan to assemble the Q3 in Malaysia, but it's half-brother the Skoda Yeti has been on sale here for a couple of years now.. The market of these small-medium sized crossovers actually isn't that big - a typical month will only see somewhere between 2000 and 4000 units sold in total, across all brands. Given the relatively low sales volumes in the segment, it's actually reasonably well serviced: Audi Q5, Q7 BMW X1, X3, X5, X6 Daewoo Chev Captiva Ford Escape Honda CRV Hyundai Tuscon Mercedes Benz M class Nissan X-Trail Porsche Cayenne Range Rover Evoque, Disocovery 4, Freelander 2 Skoda Yeti Subaru XV, Forester Suzuki Vitara Next year you can also add the Mazda CX-5 to the list. manzan
Thanks for the input. How about the Yeti, it is getting great reviews , but i see the thai website seems to only have the 1.2 L engine available and they dont mention a pricing. will it have enough "umpf" and what kind of price is it selling at? from the list i guess the Tucson and XV are the other ones i would consider, out of those 3, what is the better choice in thailand? ezzra
Talked to the KIA head office in Bkk the other day and was told that the KIA Sorrento will be available for sale March 2013, 2.2 diesel 7 seater at b.1,690,000. this model was one of the runner up for the 2012 Aussie car of the year so it should be a good car to consider if you are looking for this kind of vehicle, also i believe that the much talked about Mazda CX-5 will be available early this year, although not sure when. The new model Sorrento has been getting positive reviews from all sources. If it is well specified at 1.7m it will be well up on my list when it comes to replacing my current 7 seater. But if your interested in buying check specifications as the Kia Picanto doesn't have ABS or Airbags here in Thailand. But does have in other markets. sent from my Q6
OMGImInPattaya
Saw the Yeti at the recent Bangkok auto show...very nice looking, full specs, nice interior, around B 1.6M. It's very tempting for anyone looking in this size and price range; only question is after sales servicing, especially if not in Bangkok.
culicine
I'd seriously check out their service centres before splashing out on a 1.7M baht Kia. Service will be the main issue, along with poor resale.
raffo77
just test drove a Yeti. fun little car. a little bare for the price tag. will see if the dealer will come through with a sensible discount. ignis
I have seen the new Sportage here on red plates a few months ago....... Yes looked very nice Also seen here on red plates the new Daihatsu Terios I thought it was a Toyota, looked good, bigger than the old one, not unlike the Mk2 Rave 4 No idea where some of these odd cars come in, as do not appear to be on a Importer list
Jitar
The Terios looks like a old Rav4 because Toyota own a big chunk of Daihatsu and share some models. Don't see many of these in Thailand but Indonesia is full of Toyota / Daihatsu clones.
