I bought a samsung scx-3400 laser all in one printer a couple of months back. I use a macbook pro with time capsule/time machine wifi. I was unable to scan wifi and am told that the samsung, while this printer does printing wifi, it can scan only if connected by cable. Is this true? Can someone who has this machine vouch fro its wifi scanning? I'm hoping for the latter.

Thanks a lot for coming up with that utube, NS. I wonder though if the W on that model indicates it's an all-round wifi machine, whereas maybe my model 3400 is not - at least not for the scanning. (It does wifi printing fine). I'm hopeless with these things but i did pay a local man 500 bht to help me - but he couldn't, beyond saying the machine just wasn't wifi for scanning. I'd just like to know definitively if it is or not.

Have you loaded the Samsung driver that came with the machine, it has the scanning software built in?

I don't see anything that specifically prohibits wireless scanning in the advanced manual :-

Have you tried it with a wired connection?

Thanks for looking into this, Crossy.

As I mentioned, wireless printing is working fine, which I assume means that the cd (driver) is loaded and working; and if the scanning software is built in to that it should work - but as I said the thai chap I called in spent a good half an hour trying in vain to get the wifi scanning to function. He said the scanning did work with a cable.

I am frustrated because 90% of the reason I bought this machine was for wifi scanning. Looks like it's going to end up as just the printer an I'll have to look for a separate wifi scanner.
