My wife is buying a new car , and one of the extra options on offer is leather seating at 22,000 Baht . When I asked the show room sales representative , why it seems so expensive to have leather seats , their reply was that the leather seats come direct from the factory and have a 5 year warranty.

I have a friend who has just purchased a new car and had leather seats fitted by the vehicle show room ( from an independent out side local leather shop ) at around 7,000 Baht , and from my friends comments the leather seats are well done and have no problems.

One thing my friend did comment on about the leather seats in his new car was , the leather had a dull grainy look as opposed to the old fashion shiny leather look .

So I'm now wondering if any one here has had leather seats fitted to their vehicle from an independent shop , and could offer advice , or comments thumbsup.gif

The ones l have seen fitted after are just leather seat covers that go over the top of the original cloth and are around . Factory leather seats are a different ball game.

Thanks for the comments Guy's smile.png

The vehicle is a Nissan Almera , and when we asked about a leather seat option , we were told that its a factory fitted option and not an out side supplier , having never had a new vehicle in Thailand with leather seating , the price of 22, 000 Baht sounded high blink.png . The Nissan show room did not have any cars with the leather seats fitted so we could not see what they were like .

Ive looked at a Thai Nissan Almera owners forum , and can see many vehicles with leather seating .

I had never heard of '' Pleather '' biggrin.png but having just checked it out , it seems that many people seem happy with the results .

I wondered if what I was being told was correct , I'm going to ask the sales rep one more time , just to see what is said.

Correct - there is no such thing as a factory leather option.

Do it yourself, otherwise the actual warranty on your chairs will only last as long as that sales rep's job - i.e. when you can't find him/her anymore, you have no chance of finding out who the actual supplier was. Highly unlikely the supplier is providing 5 years warranty on it either.

22K sounds right for leather chair facings, and vinyl on the sides/back. If you want full grade A leather all-round, budget 30-35K for something like an Almera.

I want a beige leather interior in the car.
Beautiful, elegant, the interior looks more voluminous. But I heard that it is not practical due to the fact that there are traces of jeans on the leather that are poorly removed. Could this be?
Before that were black, burgundy and brown.
With them, everything is clear and simple. Found information about the leather, which one to choose Best Leather For Car Seats?

Traces of "jeans"...?????

Good idea beige does look nice, why these folks talk about heat is beyond me, Air Con keeps it at 25 in Australia or Thailand.Perhaps their just Fat n Sweaty posters.!????
