Prevailing Monsoon Season In Phuket

Featured Replies

I am wondering if one of the locals who is knowledgeable on the local weather can tell me, when the monsoons come form which direction and when they change?

NE monsoon (dry weather) Start of November though to end of April.

SW monsoon (wet weather) Start of May to end of October.

The start and end of each monsoon can be early, or late by up to one month.

April through to October the prevailing wind/waves are from the south west, November through to March from the north east. Most rain occurs April to October (though heavy rain can be experienced any day, any month), with September probably the wettest month. April to October, the currents on any of the west (and some southern) beaches on the island make swimming in the sea not advisable due to rip tides (frequent drownings occur during this period).

Never seen a topic before where everyone is agreeing with each other. w00t.gif
