Cyber Inspector

Featured Replies

I got sick of Cyber Inspector denying me access to ordinary, innocuous web sites. So, I subscribed to a private, anonymous proxy server in the US.

After playing with this for a while I've determined that it does get around Cyber Inspector's IP address blocking. (I don't get the "system policy" messages anymore.) But, Cyber Inspector still seems to be able to filter some HTML replies by content.

Anyone have a clue as to how this is done or how to get around it?

A good example is the Yale University Press. Cyber Inspector has blocked the whole site's IP address. However, with the proxy I can still get in with ease. (Of course, we all know why the Thai government is blocking the Yale University Press, don't we?)

However, other sites, which contain content (nasty speech) that is objectionable are still blocked.

Not sure who Cyber Inspector is but I was able to go to some links there without any problems or proxyies, for example http://yalepress.yale.edu/yupbooks/home.asp.

I wasn't able to get anything out of http://yalepress.yale.edu - but that was also the case throught a US connection so I think there's probably just no content at that url?

one day I can access www.uh-oh.com no probs, the next cyberinspector beats me to it, then the next day I can open it again. Funnily enough he has never beat me to www.wowasian.com :o

Interesting. I never went to a site that was bloked before (maybe I'm not as twisted as I thought) but I got caught with that uhoh site. Tried my usual Squid proxy server and that got caught. Then I reconfigured it to "paranoid" mode and guess what, still blocked.

I think they probably inspect packages for type, wow what an overhead just to prevent freedom of speech.

Pathetic.

Now to find a way to tunnel traffic encrypted through a private network.

Pretty sure it uses packet sniffing to identify what packets are related to what protocols (on all ports), then blocks it on that level.

You can try this this - does the job, but is dog slow from Thailand...

Why does 'packet sniffing' make me laugh.

I can't read it without grinning.

and it's about anti porn

What's the matter? Don't you enjoy having your packets sniffed; or haven't you tried it yet?

I'm already using a secure, password protected, anonymous proxy. That works great for getting into blocked IP addresses.

But, it does naught once the packets have passed through the proxy on their way back to my own machine, as Cyber Inspector sniffs them en route and put's up its own page in place of anything "objectionable".

I see no way around this.

This is getting stranger. Now when you click on a forbidden link instead of getting the Cyber Inspector page you get a 404 "file not found" error from this site:

http://missing.freehomepages.com/

the company that hosted the old blocking page:

http://www.cybcity.com/cyberclean/block.html

So, that means that the Thai government, which must be spending huge amounts of cash on all the packet sniffing hardware and software was using a free web host to house the warning page?

All that power and they couldn't host their own?

Something else is going on here....

I get a "POLICE ALEART" (sic) page here.

Does that really surprise you? Big companies and government agencies all use crappy hotmail accounts, so why not. :o

Circus clowns. Not you guys, them.

If you're going to censor a website, put yer pants on and don't hide behind a "Error 404 - File not found" page... :o
