Anyone Driven From Phuket To Hua Hin?

Featured Replies

Thinking of taking a trip from Phuket to Hua Hin in the next month and wondered if anyone else had done this?

Questions are: How long did it take; places to stop/see along the way, and reasonable Guest House/Hotel to stay at, plus any other info which might be of use.

Many thanks.

I think a lot of people have been "driven" from Phuket to Hua Hin, especially the Germans and Scandi's. It usually takes about 7 years to get there. :) :)

i plan to drive from bkk to phuket. i will sleep in chumpon one night and continue.

Have driven to Cha Am many times, normally takes about 8 hours by car! Only ever stopped at fuel stations on the way.

Yes, 8 hours is time for good speed driving and 2 pit stops on the way. We always stop at the big Co-op rest stop on the express way past Surat. Then another pit stop near Kui Buri.

Let me know how you get on Xylophone as will be doing the journey a few times this year

Cheers

Out of Phuket keep going north to Pang Gna and Takua Pa. Then tturn right to Surat Thani. You will go through Khao Sak Or maybe Sok. Anyway the drive is nice an scenic. I ride my bike this way anytime I am down that way. There are Thai resorts everywhere. You can also go further north through Ranong on 4. It takes longer but it sure beats getting beat to death on the N-S highway. Mybe 10 hours.

Driving this route 2-3 times a year to Bangkok and back, would like to hear suggestions for air conditioned restaurants on the way....

Aha...........a possible glitch to my travel plans!! I have been told that as my car has the "red plates" fitted, then I won't be allowed off the island of Phuket??

Is this fact or fiction?

Thanks.

Fiction.

I've driven to BKK and back on red plates. Its just supposed to be the law that you can't drive after 6pm. Rarely is it ever inforced.
