Presidential Hopefuls!

Featured Replies

Somepeople started talking about presidential hopefuls in another thread, of coruse in ended up in mud slinging, but I am really interested what people think. So, I will keep the questions simple and see what comes of it.

1. Who do you think will be the next President of America and why?

2. Who do you want to see as the next President of the America?

I separate these for they could easily be not one in the same. I have no clue who is most likely, perhaps you folk could enlighten me, however I would like to see Rice or Powell run for office. I think it's time we do something different and with people who are different and have made an impact in the American mind. Everybody knows these two and certainly with Powell character isn't a question.

Alright, your turn.

1. Jack Abramoff. His election will be a huge cost saving by letting the major corporations cut out one layer of government. His only handicap is he doesn't have a criminal conviction yet.

2. Ted Turner. This guys too good to be true, but you never know.

It would be interesting to see what Ted would do , yes. However, curiosity killed the cat, and Ted is something of a whack job. :o

1. Jim Morrison. By 2008 they will have found a way to genetically engineer his remains back to life. And the Doors are as popular as ever...

2. Jim Morrison. I want to watch him sing on Fox News:

'War is over, for the unknown soldier'

... I would like to see Rice or Powell run for office.

At last we agree on something.

I think Powell must be persuaded to run this time, otherwise he risks being remembered not for the Gulf War, but as the best man for the job who never became president.

Think of this scenario: a Powell/Rice ticket - first black president - first black vice-president - first women vice-president - possibility of Powell resigning after one term - first black/female president.

That's a message the US could send to every anti-American from the re-gained moral high ground.

Aint never going to happend. The radical right of the republicans would go bananas.

Powell is a fraud and would be the worst president, as he is indecisive, weak.

And he is black, something the conservatives will never let to happen. It's one thing to have a log cabin republican to push an ultra right wing agenda, but it's another to have one for president. Maybe Arnold has a chance :o

Powell is ...indecisive, weak.

Yes I suppose those are the qualities that spring to mind when assessing a black American who rose to be a general in the US forces and was an instrumental factor in the coalition victory in the 1st Gulf War.

He's quite clearly a Mummy's boy.

Thank you for putting us right, Butterfly - but then we always knew you were an expert on weakness.

This shows how little Butterfly knows about the US or politics in general.

Hard-core conservatives dismiss Powell because of his politics, not his race, but, normally, they have little to do with who ends up as President.

He should run as a moderate Republican, and he just might win. :o

I think a Giuliani - McCain ticket is the republicans' best hope next time. Their reputations might keep many of those unhappy with the present administration from taking it out on the next republican ticket.

Clinton will undoubtedly make a run for the democrats while she and Bill still hold a strong grip on the democratic party's grassroots. Look for Barack Obama as a potential running mate. John Edwards is another contender who was unlucky enough to be teamed with an indecisive and weak running mate last time.

Dick Cheney? :o

I think he prefers to be the president's boss. :D

cv

Dick Cheney? :D

To remind you of the OP:

1. Who do you think will be the next President of America and why?

2. Who do you want to see as the next President of the America?

It requires more than 2 words and a smilie... :o

Showing your ignorance again even on recent events like GW 1 :o

Powell has other qualities though, and he is just too smart to be president anyhow. Porkie, Spee and the other "true" conservatives want a President who ressemble them, that is incurious, ignorant, and totally clueless :D

A 'strong man', a little Hitler, who can get things back on track....

We might have won the war, with more guys like Spee and Boon Mee, who obviously support the cause. Pity they weren't born a few decades earlier.

The SS would have been proud of them.

Well, thank you.

This assessment of my knowledge from someone as erudite as you an only be taken as a complement.

I just looked up "erudite", since English isn't my first language.

I am still uncertain as to what it means

In front of imposing edifices like the Topkapi Palace or Hagia Sophia are guides displaying Government-issued licenses. Many of these guides are erudite historians who have quit low-paying jobs as university professors and now offer private tours.

-- "What's Doing in Istanbul," New York Times, February 23, 1997

The works of Baudrillard, Deleuze, Guattari and Virilio are filled with seemingly erudite references to relativity, quantum mechanics, chaos theory, etc.

-- Alan Sokal and Jean Bricmont, Fashionable Nonsense

, but I am sure you are talking sh!t again, TM.

He is the only supposide english-speaking person here that on a regulare occurence invents words and desperetly tries to defend them as real. :o

Erudite means well informed, learned, someone who knows what he's talking about. It's a word you're supposed to learn by middle school in an english speaking country.

If all else fails type it into the seach bar of and search engine, and you will be rewarded with a definition of almost any word within the first few results.

Guiliani and McCain might as well be Deomcrats. McCain is not well liked amongst conservatives. Guiliani has too many skeletons in the closet. He sat down quickly when he tried to run against Hilary as Senator of NY state. They bombed the newspapers with his misstress and that was it for him. God knows how many shady deals he has as mayor of NYC. Bebop could testify to that.

The Clintons don't represent the grass roots of the Deomcrats. They rep the old guard. They helped destroy Dean's bid for the nomination. Dean reps the new Demos bid to wrestle away teh power within the Demo party and he has proven to be a complete nincumpoop (sp.). Old guard Demos refuse to donate money to the Democratic national Committee (DNC) because Dean is the Chairhead. Money donated to the DNC is then distributed nationwide to Demos running for office and Dean as Chairhead gets to decide who gets the money. Naturaly, he'd lean towards young turk Demos and way from the old guard. The Demos will be donationg heavily to PACs and the new 527s this time around. They are in total dissaray financialy. But don't feel sorry for them. They bite if you let them up. Witness what Ted Kennedy did to Bush after the president brought Teddy in from exile and had Teddy help with the education bill. But hey it's politics sometimes you must bite those who feed you I guess.

Obama is too new on the scene. He needs years of developing allies and sources for money across the US and since he is an member of the "fellow travelers" contingent he must make connections with his brothers on mainland Europe. If Condi doesn't run Obama will be the first black president. It's all about who gets in the history books first and the Democrats have been lagging. It would be good fror the republicans if the Demos rushed Obama into the ring and ruined his career by using him before he has fully developed into a national leader.

Former Pittsburg Steelers wide receiver Lynn Swann (GOP and black) who is running for Gov. of Pennsylvania will be a Senator someday and possibly president.

As far as who should run and win I don't know. I want Hilary to run. Let's destroy that myth and cut off the head of the Hydra or was it Medusa?

Oops I fogot. Butterfly expressed his ignorance if he thinks Powell is a Log Cabin Republican. :D:o

Oliver North for Commander in Chief.

Perhaps Ann Coulter as VP since a woman would be appropriate. :o

...would we see some changes or what! :D

If you need a woman in the team, I suggest JANE FONDA!

If you need a woman in the team, I suggest JANE FONDA!

Her and Oprah will make a great team. :o

My vote goes to Colin (wait, I don´t have a vote, but that is beside the point) and Geena Davis... Then Eventually colin gets killed by terrorists and geena takes over, and then gets elected into office for the following term.

There.

Yes, we do agree. Yet I am afraid that the US wouldn't vote for a black president and vice-president. I think if either run they need a white running mate, sadly.

Powell is ...indecisive, weak.

It seems we will agree a second time TM. One of the reasons I will vote for either Rice or Powell is because of what they had to go through to get where they are and what effect that had and continues to have on their character.

And he is black, something the conservatives will never let to happen. It's one thing to have a log cabin republican to push an ultra right wing agenda, but it's another to have one for president.

Slow and steady so it gets done right. :D

I can't believe how you guys can be so ignorant about your own country history. Powell was dead opposed to an invasion for the GW 1, only Swharkpoff (sp) was pushing for it. Finally Bush Senior decided to ignore Powell and went ahead with the invasion. Then Schwarkoff (sp, too lazy to google) had a fallout with Bush Senior over the invasion of Baghdad. This time Bush Senior listened to Powell who was recommending to "withdrawal" from Iraq after the Kuwait mission success.

Powel is a man of peace. He was very frustrated during the pre-invasion of Iraq Part Deux because he was being "used" by the Bush administration and he went as far as saying privately to representatives of the UN security council to bear with him even though he and everyone knew that the evidence he was presenting were pure bullshit.

Now back to your silly dreams of America grandeur :o

You didn't even know the word "erudit" until 2 days ago when I called you one

I bet you had to google it as soon as you saw it :D

Spoon and friends are the equivalent of the SA on the eve of Hitler success to power. Cheerleaders who would stop at nothing to prove that their cause is right. No matter what, even if it means killing many innocent civilians (preferably "foreigners") as long as the cause is just.

No one even brought anything about him up, just him. So, how could we be wrong about anything, we didn't say anything. I am glad you bring this up, because the information you list is why I would like him to run.

so i guess nobody is going for Geena Davis then:....
