Boon Me>> No thanks for teaching you about the world outside the US? Now you have learnt that nazis (and other extremist political groups) have the right to demonstrate in several western countries.

Boon Mee has spent quite a bit of time living in other countries as well as learning new languages, studying other cultures, reading about the world and constantly improving himself while working full time.

His detractors have no leg to stand on there. :o

Unfortunately none of this shows in his comments, which could have been written by a 15year old skinhead who never ventured far beyond his trailer park... :o

Was that before or after Vietnam ? :o

I find this hard to believe, but if it's true, then this is even more scary :D

No leg to stand on? I suggest you read the thread before you start protecting him with your life.

My post still stands since I posted something he apperently didn't know.

(And you know, he isn't the only one that knows several languages. Or are working full time. Or spending time abroad. So, what exactly is your point?)

Never mind. "Ulysses" is one of the forum clowns, I look at him as having the mentality of a monkey who sits on his keeper's back and hisses at anybody coming close. :o

From that description I'd assume he's a taxi driver. :o

Now, why am I reminded of these four Yorkshire men:

Michael Palin: Ahh.. Very passable, this, very passable.

Graham Chapman: Nothing like a good glass of Chateau de Chassilier wine, ay Gessiah?

Terry Gilliam: You're right there Obediah.

Eric Idle: Who'd a thought thirty years ago we'd all be sittin' here drinking Chateau de Chassilier wine?

MP: Aye. In them days, we'd a' been glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.

GC: A cup ' COLD tea.

EI: Without milk or sugar.

TG: OR tea!

MP: In a filthy, cracked cup.

EI: We never used to have a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper.

GC: The best WE could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth.

TG: But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor.

MP: Aye. BECAUSE we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness."

EI: 'E was right. I was happier then and I had NOTHIN'. We used to live in this tiiiny old house, with greaaaaat big holes in the roof.

GC: House? You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING!

TG: You were lucky to have a ROOM! *We* used to have to live in a corridor!

MP: Ohhhh we used to DREAM of livin' in a corridor! Woulda' been a palace to us. We used to live in an old water tank on a rubbish tip. We got woken up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us! House!? Hmph.

EI: Well when I say "house" it was only a hole in the ground covered by a piece of tarpolin, but it was a house to US.

GC: We were evicted from *our* hole in the ground; we had to go and live in a lake!

TG: You were lucky to have a LAKE! There were a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in the middle of the road.

MP: Cardboard box?

TG: Aye.

MP: You were lucky. We lived for three months in a brown paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six o'clock in the morning, clean the bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down mill for fourteen hours a day week in-week out. When we got home, out Dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!

GC: Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at three o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot gravel, go to work at the mill every day for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were LUCKY!

TG: Well we had it tough. We used to have to get up out of the shoebox at twelve o'clock at night, and LICK the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.

EI: Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, (pause for laughter), eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah."

MP: But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.

ALL: Nope, nope..

Did you type that out all by yourself ?

If so it hardly seems worth the trouble.

Actually I have to admit I'm offended by Boon Mee's use of a picture starving mother and her children in a tar paper shack by way of some kind of feeble joke. If he can''t see what's wrong with this it might explain his attitude to many other things. An emotional separation from real people and events. The mildest diagnosis would label him a sociopath.

If Boon Mee's self-effacing humor makes him a "sociopath", I guess that makes Rodney Dangerfield a genocidal maniac. :o

The above post from lamphun is the longest he's ever written!

If the picture of me, my brother and Mom can elicit more than a line or two from the 'sample-catcher', I'm happy to be labled a 'sociopath'! :D

Well if "Dick the Cabin Boy" can't see any problem that is the problem. :o

Maybe we should start counting the posts Boon Me makes without aknowledging the fact that he made a donkeys a** of himself regarding the 'nazis can't demonstrate anywhere else but in the US'-bit...

Refresh my memory on making a donkeys ass, eh?

If you're referring to my comment that only in America - forget Canada and the rest of the so-called western democracies 'cause you'd never get a permit to march - but, in the states, and not all of them - you can get a permit to march whether you're a KKK, Nazi or a proud card-carring member of NAMBLA (North America Man Boy Love Association) etc. :o

One of the prestige jobs on an oil rig when working for Schlumberger is that of catching, in little bags, a sample of the cuttings as they come across what's known as 'shale shakers'.

You get to sit with the OIM (Offshore Installation Manager) in the Galley during meal times. :D

And so you can in several other countries.

What is it you don't understand?

Don't expect these guys to acknowledge anything which doesn't fit their slanted vision. :D

They'll attack you for your spelling or grammar next. :o

OK, OK, I'll concede the point that there are a handful of countries that permit Neo-Nazi marches etc.

My main point was there are not many who do allow them though.

In the whole scheme of things, personally, I don't have a lot of ego-involvement in whether there are or not. Perfectly comfortable living under the system of government that exists in Thailand. :o

Good one. :o

The other question is, though, what is so good about allowing this display of fascism and racism? Sure, banning it will just drive it underground.

But is proposing hatred and elimination of minorities part of what a democracy should tolerate and license?

You cannot outlaw hatred. Or stupidity.

wouldn´t be a lot of people left if you did outlaw them..
