Does anyone here have a Nikon D800E or Pentax K-5iiS?

Is resolution significantly improved? Is moiré an issue?

You might want to google 'Pentax forum' and 'Pentax forum uk'. There's lots of Pentax info on both of them. Ephotozine also has reviews of the K5II and the K5IIS by John Riley - an expert Pentaxian. He seems to think there is a difference in clarity with the S.

I don't have an D800E but I have seen samples comparing it with the D800. Yes, better resolution and the moire in most cases is not an issue. BTW, the new D7100 was just announced a few days and it (like the D800E) does not have anti-aliasing filter either.

I looked at the D800E, but I'm sticking with Pentax and will pick up the K-5 IIs next week along with a 31mm f1.8.

The cost of changing to Nikon (especially full frame) is beyond my means.

Thanks Endure, what a great resource.

Fabulous assessment of current and legacy lenses on Pentaxforums.

Just found an Asahi Pentax SMC 50mm f1.2 and bought it. The Super-Takumars M42 f1.4 and f1.7, Helios 44-2 and Porst 55 f1.2 are also on the shopping list being so very cheap. The reviews of the 31mm f1.8 show quality to be a bit of a lucky dip so I'm avoiding until I find a used Made in Japan sample.

Oh and thanks Fimgirl, I think the K-5IIS should be a bit better in low light than the K-5. Looking forward to mounting the 50mm f1.2 to it.
