What shoddy journalism. No proof whatsoever of an overdose of anything. Complete conjecture.

Not shoddy journalism at all. The reporter isn't claiming to have proof; he's just reporting the story, just like they do in the West. Complete conjecture is what people on ThaiVisa love. Others will be on here soon that claim to know the cause of death. I can't see anything wrong with the way this is reported. The article is very clear that the cause of death isn't know. It goes on to say that the body will be tested to find the cause of death. It's natural to speculate, based on what you know. If the report didn't saying anything about the cause of death, the reporter would be accused on here of covering up the cause. It doesn't matter what reporters say, because the expats without a life will be on here complaining. If these expats are so good, how come they don't get a job as a reporter?

If you don't like the reports, then don't come on here every day to read them. Simple.

Yep, we know, and you can leave the country if you dont like it. thumbsup.gif

Don't know why old guys like him take sex stimulants. One of the best parts of growing old (like me) is that it frees you of chasing sex all the time. So much better to have a cup of tea and a cake than fumbling around in the dark - especially in Thailand where the sex act is less than satisfying - glad it's almost all over for me. Right - back to the digestives (chocolate ones today - yippeee!).

I hope I pop my clogs before I reach this point in my life. Tea and crumpets better than sex? Who are you trying to convince, yourself or us.

Some of the guys on here really think that their sex lives amount to a God-given gift to Thai women (or men) and that this God-given gift must be prolonged artificially as long as possible. A quick, chemically induced thrill is about the limit of their expectations. It's become that important to them.

would it make any difference if he was not Gay?rolleyes.gif

I really do not understand why lately this and one other media outlet feel the need to underline, point out and state persons nationality or sexual preference in every single report

I assure you it is possible to enjoy sex without thinking that.

But I'm curious as to why you think Thailand is one of the worst places to have sex?

Because it would make for boring reading.

Man Dies as a headline or the headline above?

Yes I agree its pretty shoddy at times, had the dildo been used recently. as yet remains unanswered.

This is just the sort of no nonsense style of reporting your typical pattaya farang expat wants to read as he finishes off his heart attack inducing full monty fry up, before moving onto more serious matters such as where to go the piss today and where the cheapest Chang can be had.

Pattaya fun city.

Yes, people have heart attacks without taking Viagra. Most people taking Viagra don't have heart attacks unless they have preexisting conditions indicating they shouldn't take Viagra. They refer to a dildo in his room, in his drawer, not in his personal cavity. A colorful find and irrelevant to the case. The viagra is neither here nor there as only a medical examination can show if he even had taken any Viagra before his death. Much less OVERDOSING on them which they shamelessly suggest he has done even before knowing he even took a SMALL dose of Viagra. Amazingly bad journalism. Almost shocking. An insult to this man, his family, and disrespectful to gay people, a wake up call to people who don't think there is homophobia in Thailand. RIP to a man who deserves dignity at this time, not this scandalously over the top so called journalism. Note the picture of Viagra pills in the article.

Well, considering that I was born and raised in the "better living through chemistry" generation, I have something to look forward too. Thanks for the tip. thumbsup.gif

So anyone who has died in their apartment without the cause being known and happens to have any kind of prescription drug is automatically assumed to have overdosed from the drug. Good logic and good reporting - NOT!

Speak for yourself. I get a damn good workout. Maybe you are one of these 'wham bam, thank you, Ma'am' people and would not appreciate a good workout.

Sex may not be so good, but making love is brilliant.

If taking a pill or half a pill gets you hard then why not? Maybe your idea of a good night is watching some soap on television or pouring chemical beer down your throat. At 25 Baht a pill you can have a lot of fun romping about in the bed, on the sofa, or wherever it takes your fancy.

You are only here once and I'd rather watch some tv, go for a beer, pop a pill and hump something. If I die having such fun humping a woman, then I die happy.

I always thought love's an emotion, you can't really buy. Your statement is confusing. w00t.gif

Is it an idea to not report in details things like this ? I think that 99% of the readers not know the man and who wants to read stuff like this can subscribe to Pattaya News. It would save a lot of irrelevant theories and perhaps we can use this forum to exchange some useful information.

Rather than shoddy journalism, I wouldn't even dignify this as 'journalism' (As a former UK journalist, I got tired of - when living there - defending the decency of most journalists and their commitment to the truth against sensationalist reporting that plays fast and loose with the facts. After all, most journalists in the UK do not work on the tabloids)

Firstly, the headline: 'Gay German'. What relevance is the sexual orientation of the deceased to a possible - no-one knows at this stage - death from a heart attack? The only motivation for including this is titillation of the reader - ooh gays and love drugs - and sets the tone for a story that robs someone who deserves our sympathy, like anyone who suffers an untimely demise (55 being considered untimely, nowadays) -of any respect.

Secondly, a reporter never simply 'reports' a story as the poster above claims; he shapes the story by ordering the facts, or in this case, assembling baseless speculation. Note the second paragraph, which in conventional news reporting expands the key facts of the intro. "There were no signs of a struggle, as officers found sexual potency pills and a male sex toy." This is implying a cause which is not yet known and is making an assumption. Until the post mortem is carried out and communicated, the story should be supported only by known facts i.e. the truth as we currently know it to be. And, you don't relay police speculation unless you flag this up as speculation

Finally, a poster elsewhere claims that a TV report backs up assertions in this report. The truth being elsewhere is not a justification for a story written like this. Even if it transpires that he did have a heart attack due partly to the use of sex pills, it doesn't justify a story like this. It's fine for us all as posters to make conjecture and speculate but basic standards of journalism should be considerably higher that this, with responsibility to those reported about, and those reported to. Ask yourself, if this was a relative of yours, would you be happy with such 'reporting'?

i have always had a healthy sexual appetite & whole my life fooled around a lot....the man went with women, with tranvestites & with gays...now in my view he seemed nothing less than a pervert....so he had his fun(s)....and he most probably "overdoses" on his favorite passtime thing....that's all....i'm sure he WILL rest in peace (well.......)

and i by no means mean to be disrespectful, just think this is a probable & realistic scenario

The word around Jomtien complex and Rompho is this guy went around to all the bars he knew someone at and told them they wouldn't be seeing him anymore. People thought he was leaving town. Saw him often, always alone.
